Oh. I don’t know how to help you then, sorry. That problem is out of my range of experience. I never had a problem judging distances, even when I didn’t have stereoscopy.

I don’t know why I never replied to this, but…  
Actually, I can focus both eyes together perfectly fine on any object I choose. But sometimes, I just can’t judge distances to objects properly, in spite of having good stereo vision. It’s like my brain just says “Nope, not gonna triangulate the distance to that” and I reach for it and it isn’t there. :P  
But yeah, my eyes converge normally like anyone elses, the brain just doesn’t do the maths properly. :P

Next time you visit your optician, ask for ocular convergence/divergence therapy. If you can focus both eyes on a fixed point between them, your brain should automatically generate a 3D image of whatever object occupies that point. I have to warn you though, while the therapy itself isn’t painful, the headaches that follow (by 1-3 hours) are excruciating, especially if you spend more than half a minute on each exercise. On the bright side, it only takes a couple weeks (if you go every day or every other day) and each session shouldn’t take more than half an hour.

Ah no, I have regular eye checkups and my optician wonders why I bother, as she says I have perfectly normal eyesight (everyone else in my family wear glasses though, that’s why I bother). My lazy eye got fixed, I can focus exactly the way I should, but I still can’t see 3D properly. 3D movies make me feel ill - dizziness, headaches, nausea. If they ever stop doing 2D movies, I’ll have to stop going to the cinema. xD

Yeah, my eyes were losing their acuity at different rates, making proper focus and 3D impossible. But after I got laser surgery, I did some therapy and now my eyes are ok.

Yeah, strabismus is basically “lazy eye” - the eyes don’t point in the same direction and focus on the same object. I had it as kid too, I wore glasses for a few years and for a while also wore an eyepatch over my stronger eye to force me to focus my weaker eye in the right direction. I looked like a nerdy pirate for a while there when I was 8. :P  
These days, my eyes focus together fine, but I still can’t see 3D. :)
