Might’ve either been a homage/callback, or a coincidence.
Heck, Tirek being rebooted/brought back is kinda a nod to G1 to. They even still implimented Scorpan in his origin story to, which I liked.
Yeah, but I had heard that the bit with Discord and Tirek stealing the unicorns’ magic in a theater was similar to a scene in the episode with Arabus and Knight Shade…
Well, the “big bad guy betraying his partner in crime/lackey” is a pretty common trope in fiction.
I’ve seen some fanart redesigns for a few G1 villains, I liked the one for Arabus where he was given a bird mask-like face.
