Ah? Well, it wasn’t clear at all, because Odysseus actually ordered his men to untie him in the Odyssey as well.
I think that they may be thinking of one of the episodes of The Simpsons where they parodied The Odyssey. Apparently it was “Tales from the Public Domain”. Homer (Simpson, not the ancient one) played Odysseus.
