Actually, the mobster pony that hangs with the construction crew is capturing every single bird as soon as they leave.
2nd
The hypocrisy is strong in this one.
So you think one of the deer is in with the construction dudes? That’d be an AWESOME twist!
I’m actually expecting that blackthorn will turn out to have been intercepting the messenger birds before they go to celestia (Since he’s been shown to have an affinity for the birds answering to him, and his name screams “Villain”) in order to avoid Celestia intervening and that he’s been payed off by Well to do to do so.
Its a common storytelling device in this situation to have a race that believes itself more moral than another race have a single rogue Member turn villainous in order to shatter their world view and make them realize they’ve been arrogant: As an example, in the original battle for the planet of the apes the “Ape shall not kill ape” thing gets shown to be horribly naive due to aldo blatantly fanning the flames of tension between humans and Apes and is willing to murder other apes to do so.
Here’s hoping. Like I said before, I don’t like the whole “save the environment” plots because they are almost never done well. The dudes destroying the environment are always portrayed as irredeemably jerks who at the very most may “learn the error of their ways”, the ones on the side of the environment are always portrayed as do-no-wrong saints (yet often do a ton of villainous stuff), and in the end it ruins the whole intended message. Environmental morals should be about saving the environment, not good vs. evil.
Now all of that being said, if they actually end up portraying both sides as in the wrong for their actions, this mini-series in my opinion will do a complete 180 and be really good. If they actually acknowledge that Aspen was every bit a villain as the construction ponies for how he counterattacked, I think the overall moral will be a really powerful one. Bonus points if it’s Bramble here who calls him out.
This might count as a spoiler, but I predict that he will come to understand that Ponies are not as bad as the rest of the deer make of them to be.
Pretty much. He seems like the only deer to actually be a decent guy.
And the excuse is worth making more art of him.
Bramble at least has the excuse that he’s young, though.
Too bad.
bleh. I hate all the deers. racist jerks.
