You know interestingly enough, I actually hate PYHD with a fiery passion. I think it is easily one of the worst episodes of the series. It. Was. Terrible. I just disagree with what some people say about Iron Will.

He might have been a jerk, but Pinkie and Rarity were being racist in the episode.

Because as I said in a different thread, he’s already known as a jerk who advocates physical force to get your way, and he’s acting like a belligerent drunk. I don’t blame them one bit.

Pinkies expressions are the best for this and pretty much make it for me.

I don’t think they ever gave him credit for being reasonable. Witnesses or not.

Yeah, maybe ‘what happened’ isn’t quite the way to put it, but it just find it interesting. Literally every other character on the show has their own set of backup characters that complement and relate to them, but then you have Fluttershy who’s always surrounded by characters who stand in incredibly stark contrast to her. Hell, even Angel falls into that category when you get down to it.
 
I’m not saying it’s a bad thing by any means. I just find it amusing. :P

Not sure “what happened” is really the question you should ask.
 
Her very first scene involved getting excited over meeting a dragon. Next episode, she’s being licked by a manticore. In her first focus episode she made an adult red dragon cry. Even Bulk, the lump of muscles that shouts, should have been part of Rainbows scene. After two episodes around Rainbow, he ended up having better chemistry with Fluttershy than his own weather captain.
 
Being the beast master, the timid flower more at home around monsters than her own kind, has sort of been her thing from square one.

Because despite being the most well-mannered antag, IDW wants it made clear and unquestionable that he is the bad guy who needs help.
 
Either that, or they’re still anti-taurite.

Honestly, why are Rarity and Pinkie so set against him? They saw him leave peacefully the last time. Why do they just naturally assume he is there to cause trouble?

Somebody along the way realized the only way to show her off positively is by contrasting her.

Applejack’s supporting cast are other farmers and her close family.
 
Rainbow Dash’s supporting cast are other fliers and athletes like the Wonderbolts and Gilda.
 
Rarity’s supporting cast are other fashionistas and high society celebrities.
 
Fluttershy’s supporting cast are giant monsters, trickster gods, and roided-out rage cases.
