T: You and Peridot go. I’ll be fine. It’s my job to protect you
Nidra: As your princess, I command you to stand down! Please…
T: I’m not protecting you as a guard. I’m protecting you as your husband. Now get out of here!
Did this quite some time ago. Felt too sad/dramatic to share but it was bugging me by just sitting there.
I came up with this really sad headcanon a while ago (because I like sad stories and tragedies) where T joins the guard to protect Nidra. But then Canterlot castle gets attacked while Nidra is pregnant with Anastasia and T is horribly injured protecting his family. He passes shortly after and Nidra is left to raise Peridot and Anastasia.
BBBBBBBUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT… I’m ain’t doin’ dat shiz because I felt bad doing that to T and even more so, Nidra just because she’d probably beat herself up about the whole ordeal. But yeah this was a little too dark lol. If anything, this happens, but T is able to get out okay. Yay!

Not a bad question. I could see a fair number of awkward short & long-term reactions to Rarity’s passing: stereotypical brooding, smothering the kids (and grandkids, if applicable), taking off for a decade or two to Find Himself(TM) again…depends what & how much use the writer has left for him.
This makes me wonder where Spike is. Like T, he lost his wife to the sands of time and has been alone for longer than T. What state is he in? Calm sage or greed-sized titan of indifference?
@Vexd
True enough-I just wonder about the threshold between ‘sugarbowl’ and ‘pit of endless misery’. One Heroic Disney Death(R) hardly seems like the deciding factor.
Come to think of it, whomever/whatever this is might take T alive for hostage purposes.

How would this particular development equate to Nothing But Despair(C) when plenty of Kilalaverse characters have enjoyed full lives, and one (Nidra) a volatile mix of joy & sorrow, some of which is inevitable for an immortal amid mortals anyway?
‘Sides, are we assuming her universe begins & ends with T, the kids and a handful of departed fillyhood friends? You’d think a full-fledged Princess would have warmed up to some regular acquaintances within her staff as well.
Meh. Too soon after they lost Annie and Starburst and the rest of the non-super-long-lived ones. Would suck if Nidra was left totally alone and believing it’s all her fault. Darkness has its place but when there’s nothing but death and despair you have something that just isn’t any fun.
Actually, I wouldn’t mind a far-off storyline where one of these characters nobly bites it in defense of their loved ones. Nor would I mind a little elaboration as to what this horrid new (or old) menace might be. Changelings? Griffons? Tengu? An aggressively expansionist dragon regime that hates ’em some halfbreeds?

That
Lots of that
A universe doesn’t have to grimderp to be considered good
Or maybe cause it’s MLP.

So, as the artist said, just enjoy badass T!
