To be fair, when you first heard that a new MLP was coming out, did you imagine you’d spend a good chunk of time on a site dedicated to pics, discussions and thunderous arguments about it?
I certainly didn’t.
Man, the show that Could Have Been if only Hasbro had known how huge G4 was going to turn out to be.
It’s been confirmed a few times (mostly by Lauren Faust herself) how each of the mane 6 were suppose to have unique body shapes. After Applejack’s comment in Winter Wrap Up about Twilight; “She’s awful strong for such a little pony”, makes me think Twilight was meant to be pretty small, maybe even the tiniest between the friends. Would have been an extra hilarious contrast after her transformation into an Alicorn, “WHO’S THE LITTLE PONY NOW!!” haha
It could be a Ballpoint pen or some other mad sciency Gadget stylized as a Quill.

W-well…I’m sure there are perfectly valid reasons why a gentleman would be without pants.
As I recall, he wasn’t wearing any pants at the time, so I’m not sure how well that ended up going over with the local constabulary.
I assume the officer was not amused.

But they aren’t background humans. Background humans are characters that were introduced in Equestria, had no pony counterpart, and were only there to fill in the crowd.
Lyra and Bon Bon are fan favorites with pony counterparts.
Robo-Lyra and Bonbon are on the far left of the crowd blocking Twi in panels 2 and 3.
If neglecting to invent the pencil and ballpoint pen leads to sentient robots with death rays I think that’s a pretty good trade.
All I’m saying is, this is what happens when you neglect one branch of the tech tree.
