It was basically like this:
  • Trixie and her band made it to the semi-final, facing against the Rainbooms.
  • During the Rainboom’s song, pony ears started materializing on Dash.
  • Sunset saw it and since they tried to keep their powers secret from the Dazzlings she panicked, ran onto the stage and jumped at Dash.
  • Chaos ensued, the song ended and the crowd got made at Sunset believing that she had fallen back into her old behaviour.
  • The Dazzlings (who already knew about the Rainbooms and had plans for them) influenced Celestia & Luna and thus the Rainbows were declared winners.
  • The Dazzlings approached an angry Trixie and subtly manipulated her into taking actions against the Rainbooms.

Trixie was as much a victim of the Dazzlings as everyone else. Their music brought out the worst in everyone and turned them against each other. Look at Flash and how angry he looked during the whole competition. Green eyes or not no one can tell me that this wasn’t the result of the Dazzlings magic. Plus Trixie won the battle with the Rainbooms fair and square even if it was because of Sunset intervention. Everyone in the crowd though the Illusions were better and then Celestia suddenly announces the Rainbooms as the winners. From Trixie’s PoV – and judging by the boos the crowd agreed with her – her band lost despite being the superior one. That in combination with the Dazzling’s magic was probably enough to drive almost anyone over the edge.

That’s kind of a running thing with this series, are you not familiar with “Twilight Justifies Evil”?
It’s not even limited to other characters, Trixie got away scott-free in Magic Duel, minus the embarrassment. Besides, I think that most of the fandom is generally okay with her behavior. She wouldn’t be the crazy, self-centred, sociopath that we all know and love otherwise.

Yes, I’d have to agree with Overlord. The greatest extend that Adagio manipulated her was offhandedly mention how terrible it’d be if they couldn’t make it to practice, disqualifying them. I’m fairly certain Trixie would have done it regardless, if a bit later. She is Trixie, after all.
Besides, I don’t think the Dazzlings really needed to bother with her, why bother brain controlling a ready ally?

“See you never!”
“Dammit! Don’t just stand there, girls; think of a clever retort!”

yeah but the real question is, if she never was under thier spell, then how the heck did she not get her mind controlled by them like Vinyl didn’t? or if she did get her mind controlled, then why didn’t the effects of the spell wear off from her at the end?

Regardless of whether or not she was acting on her sociopath instincts, (she didn’t have the ‘green eyes’ that the Dazzlings’ magic created,) she ultimately was the hero in the end. She cockblocked Flash and Twilight, therefore everything is forgiven.
