What you don’t see is the smile creeping on her face as she sees just how adorable we find him.  
I really want to see a follow up, where the two of them are cuddling with a somewhat angry looking Twilight starring at the menacingly.  
The idea behind it is, while Spike can sleep anywhere he prefers someplace warm. So I can see him clawing his way up Rainbow dash until he’s right at her chest, and just kind of instinctively Rainbow wraps her forehooves around him.  
Later Rainbow comes to to see a very angry alicorn staring at her before she looks down to see Spike with a big dumb grin on his face while asleep, before she even thinks about it she kicks Spike away off the cloud hurling towards his death. She panics before she realizes the cloud is now only four feet off the ground and Fluttershy was below them and caught him on her back.
 
New idea, have Spike sleeping on Fluttershy’s back while nuzzling her mane.

I think that dragons are a naturally air born species so he wouldn’t need a spell from Twilight. he just doesn’t have the wings to fly himself up to cloud level.

Imsokyo’s don’t extend over the curve of the muzzle, though, so it’s easier to see them as being part of the nose rather than little skin flap things.

Er,I like to see spike with any male from MLP aswell but the ladys just look more better with spike, I like to see spike sandwiched between filtter and cloud chaser/storm walker or aloe and lotus.

Why just the mares? I’d like to think that Spike has some male role models that he feels comfortable falling asleep next to.
 
Oh, and friends, too. Ones his own age. Oh! Spike asleep in a filly pile with the CMC! Off to request that right now!
