Really, what else is new? (Yes, I know I’m a month late to the punch, don’t comment on it.)
Ugh…
I kind of need a link to those reviews because the last video of his I could stand to watch was his Exclusives Showdown one where he said and I quote…
“My non-gaming friends often say to me ‘Hey we’d really like to play the best video games, which of the next-gen consoles should we buy?’ to which I reply why did you just make two completely unrelated statements? It’s like saying I want to join the Russian ballet, what colour I should paint my ass or I’d like to visit Moraco, how many times should I stick my head in a Corby trouser press. You want to play the best games you buy a PC…”
Also, Symphony of the Night.
Saints Row too.
Wind Waker.
Seriously. He’s the kind of asshole who believes that if a game isn’t on PC then it’s not worth playing.
INB4 he’s always like that.
Well I personally can’t stand him when he goes on to bash consoles and do his PC Elitist/Fanboy shtick.
His Super Smash Brothers Brawl review was a key case of this.
He complains about it being a button masher, where button mashing actually makes you win, which makes you question if he even played it- you can’t win by button mashing in Smash. You’re more liable to kill yourself than anything.
Then he goes on to complain about people becoming “That guy” who is an insufferable ass that can’t be beaten… how does that mesh with a game where Button Spam to win is the case, Yahtzee?
That being said, the hatemail he got was much more just about him not praising the game, not about his actual, serious mistakes during the review.
“I like Trains.”
Different strokes for different folks. Ain’t nothing wrong with that.
@RaineV1
While I already had my doubts about his reviews, I came to that realization after his Overlord 2 review. I thought it was a pretty cool game. Yahtzee quit at the spider temple puzzle. Which, granted, is frustating but also the only one of it’s kind in the game. Then he went on about how he liked Saint’s Row 2 so much he’d marry it. I thought the game was rather meh and was even somewhat put off by the player characters sociopathy. That doesn’t happen often.
Fair enough.
As I said before,I don’t try to see him as a reviewer,I try to see him as a comedian. And he comes off as really obnoxious.
It’s pretty obvious from watching his videos that at least part of it is satire. He has constructed an asshole persona for his reviews. Said asshole would not really care if all the details blurted out during his rants are accurate.
Point is, if you are watching Yahtzee’s reviews to decide which games to buy, you are probably not making the wisest of decisions. It’s like choosing to use The Colbert Report as your source of news. It’s sprinkled with satire and bias on the part of the reviewer.
And he has to like those because Nintendo won and is not allowed to still hate it apart from Luigi and Wario Ware apparently probably?
And yeah, what RaineV1 said.
Did he forget, New Starfox, Kirby’s Rainbow Curse, Yoshi Yarn game, and Robot Chicken.
I pretty much get upset when any person can’t get their facts straight. But here’s the thing though, the wiki page on The Onion tells you that it’s a satire news page. Which means I can’t take it seriously.
Except no where is it said that Yahtzee is done purely as satire/parody.
Tell me, are you one of those people who get upset about how inaccurate The Onion is when it comes to reporting the news?
