America has Derpy for a President. Russia has Dinky. The Third World all have Sombra if they’re lucky, Chrysalis or Tirek if they’re not. Europe has Discord.

In that particular case they had no choice but to convert the runes to be readable for the viewer, else the scene wouldn’t make sense.  
Just like how ponies speak in an original fantasy language and the speech is autodubbed in English for the audience.
