It is a bizzarre combination. Islam is a monothiest religion, specifically one of the three Abrahamic religions. Communism is a secular materialist ideology which is avowedly anti-thiest and (by extension) athiest*. Mixing Communism with Islam makes as much sense as mixing it with any other religion, Christianity included…
 
*Although this isn’t hard-and-fast. Castro, for instance, is still a pretty devout Catholic despite also being a die-hard Marxist-Leninist. Don’t ask me how he resolves the contradiction…
