Yeah, Power Ponies was a show gag first.
Yeah, still those 4 things were minor things. (And the breezies were a callback/nod to the previous G3 MLP generation/canon.)
Season 5 hardly had any toy plugs. (Not sure if the glowing cutie-marks count)
They should make Smooze a Gak-like toy. :P
The more I think of it actually the power Ponies toys probably came out after the episode so there’s only 4 I can’t think of

Of course saying the show is just a toy commercial because of that is beyond stupid.
And like was said before other shows have done it worse like the first Transformers movie that killed Off characters and replace them with new ones
Well, there was the crysalized ponies, and the controversial Princess Twilicorn for Season 3. That’s 2 toy franchise plugs, and ironically some ex-bronies think that was too much. (Meanwhile TMNT has toy plugs in almost every ep’, and nobody cares.)
What were the 5? I don’t remember that many in S4. (Unless your talking about the later blind bags like Cheese Sandwich, but not sure if those count, as those came later.) I also found the drama over their “Rainbowfied” forms ironic, sense they only appeared in the S4 finale for less then 2 minutes. (Wow! they’re really shoving toy ads in our face! j/k) :P
I remember one ex-brony trying to fear monger by claiming they were going to be permanent redesigns.
It’s weird how some ex-fans still obsess over the show.
Come to think of it how many toy plugs where is season 3 and 4 anyway?
I can only think of 1 for the season 3 and 5 from season 4

And Season 5 barely had any toy plugs, (even new characters have yet to get any toy) so the argument that the MLP:FIM show is “nothing but a toy commercial” doesn’t hold much water anymore.
Meanwhile, many TMNT characters from both the original, and new Nick shows seem to be only made just to appear in one episode or two just to sell an action figure. (Like Muckman whom was in both shows, and didn’t have much effect on the continuity.) They do that with every mutant/monster of the week, yet just recently Coco Pommel finally got her toy over a year, and a half sense her introduction. (So something tells me she was created for the show prior, rather then created as a toy first.)

Agreed. Like…it’s bad when MLP does it, but it’s A-OKAY with TMNT or Transformers do it? For fuck sakes, TMNT and Transformers do it WAY WORSE than MLP does, give MLP the benefit of the doubt they at LEAST try to include their toy based merch into the show somehow.
I think that comparison is a bit overkill frankly… (And to be fair CR doesn’t even bash the show as much as he used too.)
It’s not like CR has been creating some anti-brony cult, or encouraging people to cyber-bully bronies, like some other fanatical haters have done in the past.
CR is just another cranky internet critic-wannabe. That’s small potatoes, compared to the haters who actually bullied a brony into suicide before…

Further irony is, I see way more TMNT merchandise in my local stores then MLP crap.
I love TMNT, but it’s very ironic when people demonize MLP for being a “cash cow franchise,” while praising other shows that are just as guilty (or even more-so) of that. I also find that trendy hipster attitude of “capitalism/consumerism/merch’ is evil,” quite annoying sometimes. (Especially, from people wearing logo hats, and drinking name-brand soda.)

Like I said. No show is better. Chad is just as worse as those “true” MLP fans who really wanted the pony designs to be realistic and G1 or 3, and hates all of G4 without realizing they’re hypocrites for liking the show for the second time they watch it.
It’s just one big old dick fight that surely is a draw after it lasts for a long while.
A good example of that is someone actually said they talked to Chad on twitter about Nick’s new TMNT show and Chad praised it.
Despite the fact TMNT does the SAME thing MLP does: Promotes toys which is what Chad whines about MLP.

Well, it’s not like there aren’t people who have showcased some blatant hypocrisy while trying to take a moral high ground but have come to admit it. In fact, I’m ashamed to admit that there have been times in the past that I’ve regrettably exhibited signs of that behavior, including casually insulting both Gravity Falls and MCU fans, and I really hate that I did that. Although more often than not hypocrites who put themselves on some high pedestal never see this, either because they’re that dense, or they’re that egotistical that they can never admit to being wrong, even if it’s pointed out directly two them.
Chad is someone who would come off as the latter, if his past behavior is any indication. Seeing as how he’s repeatedly contradicted himself, if someone tried pointing a sign of it out (such as still following the show despite saying he wants nothing to do with it, or liking other cartoons that have pulled the same “offenses” that he constantly claims FIM is hellspawn for supposedly committing) he’d probably pull some sort of BS “well that’s different!” excuse out of his ass.

I think you mean “without ever realizing he’s a hypocrite.” Hypocrites in general seem to have some sort of mental block in their brain that makes them constantly unaware whenever they talk out of their own ass and can’t practice what they preach.

So I can’t say our fandom is better since he’s a person. Nor am I saying that this show is better than other shows that are out now, or legendary at their own right. It just comes off as ignorant and off of my own moral view code. At least that’s what I like to put it.
I don’t condone any hate on opinions of someone talking shit about a fandom that I’m in, or I’m not because they could say whatever the hell they want. All I’m saying is that some people cannot make their mind, (I hate this, even though I’m not going to see it) or just simply ignorant when it comes to some elements in the show. (Oh my god, this is a rip off even though it pays homage and tribute to that thing)
