I am a habitual smoker, despite my chronic bronchitis.
Come at me.
Well, aside from that, I can’t actually see or imagine Twilight as someone who smokes.
The only one I can actually see smoking a cigarette is Rarity. And Sunset Shimmer, at one point.
@Beau Skunky
Exceptions are those to protect the vulnerable people such as children and victims of crime. I believe THAT was what censorship was intended for. But it’s now being used as a tool of oppression.
@SeraphimDawn
Well, some censorship I can understand, (in fact, I’m a li’l thankful for the censorship when watching the show/movie “Jackass” on tv. :P Some of it’s rather messed-up) but yeah, some people are going a li’l to overboard with it.
My parents never actually really censored anything for me, or my sister when we were little. (Surprising considering how conservative they are.) They let us watch PG or PG-13 movies sense we were little, and it didn’t bother us. (In fact, the “adult” stuff we usually didn’t understand, or didn’t pay much attention to anyways.)

Yeah, we should smoke a lot of cigarettes to spite them, and get lung-cancer just to show them who’s boss! ;)
Also, there never really was much smoking in kid shows, aside from ugly characters smoking cigars usually.
Though, I will say some of the censorship is going overboard, considering Toon Disney actually edited out/banned a “Sonic Says” PSA that was anti-smoking. (Probably ‘cause it actually showed Tails puff on a cigarette, though he didn’t enjoy it.)

Actually, that is false. Denying care and strict prohibition is what the USA has been doing for decades, and if anything it made things worse. Meanwhile, some parts of Canada and Europe treat drug addiction as a health issue rather than a strictly criminal one, and usage has dropped compared to the States.
As to this pic, I don’t like it. Thus it becomes another class of ButchX pics I won’t fave or upvote (the other being all his Regular Show crossover pics, since I don’t care for RS). Personally, I am allergic to something in cigarettes, so I don’t smoke and refuse to hang around anyone who does. That said, it’s not my business if anyone smokes, so long as they don’t do it anywhere near me.
Well, there’s taking in a bunch of carcinogens and indecent exposure, at worst. The Bobo Doll gave credibility to Social Learning Theory, which basically says people learn by watching and being in a context where certain activities occur. They don’t have to be glamorized to be followed. They just have to be appealing in some way. Countercultures and shadow cultures thrive off of being different from what is generally socially desirable, blah, blah, social science babble.
You can get fined for indecent exposure and perhaps get some jail time.
The stats for habitual smokers are known.
I think the best argument is that the artist can do whatever they like, more or less. Not whether or not children are more likely to begin smoking by seeing a character who’s in a negative light. If we dug deeply enough, we’d find more than a few studies pointing out that children can learn activities from some of the least desirable of people in addition to the most desirable ones.
@SeraphimDawn
Agreed, I was just kidding around personally. Y’know, people are so uptight about smoking, that they can’t even show ugly characters smoking cigars in old cartoons on TV anymore, ‘cause it “corrupts” the kiddies? (Yet, it’s ok to show SpongeBob’s bare ass, and such.)
I hate smoking to, but I think some are getting to bent over that.

I hope he’s alright.
I feel terrible laughing at that poor guy.
Look at you, brainwashed by a hazardous and above all, illegal substance that you crave! You’re a puppet.
Drugs are bad!
Learn to do it more gooder.

Censorship needs to die, period. It serves no beneficial purpose, and only creates an environment that breeds delusions.

He didn’t light it.
Cute.
Cute? Or animal cruelty?

Yeah. Lung cancer.
