Especially since he’s the youngest member of their group, meaning that failing to outlive them would be suspect. The older sister is supposed to be buried by the younger brother, not the other way around.

I’m not so sure about that. He’s still a kid (somewhere in the range between 6 and 16 depending on how you ask), growing up surrounded by ponies. He probably sees himself as a honorary pony. Even if he knows that he’s going to outlive everyone by centuries, do you think that makes him feel any better at their funerals?

Spike has less fans. Aside from that, as he’s always been a dragon, there’s the expectation that he’s known that he’ll outlive his friends from birth, and therefore been acclimatizing to the concept.

I’ve actually seen a few of those, but you’re right; they’re not all that common. …Actually, sad images of Cadance outliving Shining Armor seem to be more common…

How it does comes that there aren’t tons of sad images about Spike outliving everyone he knows and loves? Or about Discord outliving Fluttershy? Looks like immortality is only a bad thing when it comes to Twilight, everyone else is fine and dandy.

I’m of the opinion that they’re not immortal, but Celestia and Luna have drastically increased lifespans (say, 10,000 years), whereas Cadance and Twilight’s lifespans only slightly increased when they ascended (assuming that the average lifespan of a pony is 150 years, which is how old I personally think Granny Smith is and probably not all that uncommon for a pony to live to that age, let’s say that Cadance and Twilight are guaranteed to live to at least 200).

You know I don’t even think Celestia and Luna are immortal. Ever since the writers brought in the whole age manipulation magic in Se3 ( and the fact that since Luna was trapped IN the Moon and not on it meaning she could have been in a state of suspended animation like Discord was ) there “immortality” will always be brought in to question for me.

From a doylist perspective, yes, this is true.

Indeed. Heck, a lot of the “immortality blues” images feature Cadance and Shining Armor, and in Cadance’s case, even if she isn’t immortal, it’s still a very distinct possibility that she would outlive him given his line of work.

Likewise, they’re still a possibility that she’ll kack it first, even if her lifespan was increased.

I’d definitely call her a troll (she does seem to enjoy screwing with the fans’ heads), but her “lies” tend to run on the “Exact Words” principle.
 
Besides, even if Twilight isn’t immortal (and there is NO evidence that Twilight herself is immortal, despite whatever headcanon you might be stubbornly clinging to and confusing for actual canon), there is still a possibility that she’d outlive her friends ANYWAY.

Pfft, we all know McCarthy is a troll and a liar. Twilight will outlive her friends. They either won’t touch the subject in the show or McCarthy will just cobble together some BS statement about the whole thing and skirting around the issue entirely.
