Plus I was bineging on ancestry shows recently…so…arbitrary relevance, ho!
I’m referring more to the fact that 50 isn’t a power of 2, so I’m not sure if it’s possible to get the hereditary mix to that precise amount. I’m well aware that interracial relations (mostly consensual in modern times, one hopes) can and do occur.
Well, if you really want to get technical, there are Americans that while not considered “black”, have a percentage of African ancestry due to European colonists/ slave owners having sexual relations (both consensual and non-consensual…mostly the latter) with their African slaves. This is also why a good majority of African-Americans have a percentage of European ancestry.
The board says .02, which would be 1/50th, so I don’t know if it’s actually possible to wind up 1/50th black, but I’d rather believe there’s a partially-black person there than that there’s a severed body part being counted.
I don’t know. Someone could probably do the maths to find out but it’s beyond me. I think for each generation above you, you’d have to divide the previous amount by half. Black parent = 0.5 (half), black grandparent = 0.25 (quarter), etc.
I’m pretty sure this is how it works.

That reminds me of something I read long ago. The original Rat Pack (made up of some of the most famous singers of the time) had a joke where they’d ask their sole black member to smile so people could see where he was.
Thing is, I’m reasonably sure they were just teasing him, considering on at least one occasion they threatened to boycott a casino that wouldn’t let him in.

Not to mention the “0.2” and the nearly wiped remark in the white board’s corner kinda suggest that this done out of jest. :P
It seems harmless, I don’t think he’s trying to start anything.
Maybe he’s trying to rebuttal all those annoying anti-brony folk who say bronies are all white, and such, (I’m a mixed race technically, so screw those people who say that) or is just doing it out of curiosity.

Maybe he just likes tallies. Maybe he’s autistic and that’s something he does. There’s nothing at all that suggests anyone is trying to start up racial arguments.
I don’t see a point in taking a count of “how many black people are here” as well as pointing out “that’s 2%”.
No he isn’t. Read the description, he was just taking a tally. For some reason.
