@Background Pony #0E03
Anyway, I promised to tell you the intricacies of Chrysalis’ plan……

First off,

Plan Step 1) kidnapping Cadense, taking her place, knowing the location of somewhere Celestia might not even remember…(later knowledge reveals maybe why)

She found out who the bridesmides are and used her magic to place them under mind control. They must of led Cadense to a place away from any guards and warped her to the crystal caves.

Step 2) Not killing Cadense and keeping her captive

Unlike most Disney villains, keeping the princess alive wasn’t an act of convenience, it was part of her plan. Both for leverage just in case her plan went south, and for an ulterior motive if the final part of the plan was working. As for keeping her locked in there, that was a really sadistic part. Cadense may not be SUPER strong, but she’s still a flying alicorn. So, whenever she was conscious, Chysalis would mind control the bridesmaids into beating her up…as they weren’t changlings, and she had no bond with them, she couldn’t defend herself magically against the innocent ponies. Her magic only wards evil.

Step 3) Princess Luna

Few people caught this on but I realized it…Chysalis prior to the wedding anonymously informed Canterlot it would be under attack on purpose! That is why Canterlot was on high alert for an unknown reason at the beginning of the episode. When this happens, two things occur….Shining Armor would set up his shield over Canterlot, and Princess Luna, still determined to redeem herself, would insist on watching all of Canterlot during the night along with her normal duties. It was ingenious. Not only would Luna be exhausted the exact hour Chysalis planned for the wedding, Shining Armor would be set up for a perfect excuse.

If everything worked as planned, the second all attention would be on the wedding, her army would suddenly attack, crush the barrier and unleash hell. Everyone would panic, and Celestia and the others would try to protect the people. In the confusion to try and stop the changelings, Chysalis would transform and blast her in the back, capture her, wear the remaining elements down, the capture Luna at her leisure. She needed the two alive but encased so they could still use the sun and moon to work, perhaps she was even trying to steal their powers.

Step 4) How to deal with Twilight, Rainbow Dash, and the other 4.

This must of taken a lot of research and a lot of careful planning. Chysalis herself asked the 5 to do the wedding preparations. While she was careful to act like Cadense in front of most ponies like Celestia, in front of Twilight, she would intentionally act like a bitch. But she specified RD practice for show-worthy Sonic Rainboom, something ‘Cadense’ wouldn’t oversee.

Twilight, who knew Cadense best, would be immediately put off by this bitchy princess. The other 4 however, Rarity, Fluttershy, Applejack and Pinkie Pie, are too humble and honored before royalty to question anything somewhat rude. Rainbow Dash, on the other hand, is an expert as seeing decaption, enough to keep up with Discord most times, and moreover, she is not humble enough to take crap from someone she doesn’t know or respect. But conveniantly ‘She was too busy practising to see Cadense’s bad attitude’, as she put it. With Twilight’s history of overreaction, RD would be more inclined to believe in the other 4 second-hand then Twilight. However, like in Return to Harmony, Twilight hadn’t put that much stock into past friendships, and she truly believed that it was her, Cadense, that had gone evil, but I’ll get back to that later.

Everyone not believing her would lead to her going no subtlety and announcing that Cadense was outright evil in front of everyone. If her accusation didn’t come through, she’d lose all credibility. Driving her into a corner and letting her see her brainwash Shining Armor last night really sold it.

Step 5) Brainwash inception on Shining Armor

This was an ingenious move on Chysalis’ part. Like the bridesmaids, she had Shining Armor entranced and mind-controlled. However, if someone tried to shake him out of his trance without powerful magic, they’d find a SECONDARY mind control spell…one that would have him act exactly like him except a few details, and have altered memories of the reasons for his headaches. She LITERALLY must of cracked open his soul to create an secondary mind-controlled Shining that sounded so sane and sure of himself in his memories and likes that he would turn on Twilight.

After Chysalis AND Shining’s performance, not even Celestia or Rainbow Dash would believe her….and when she was completely alone and her will was almost shattered…she would take away her self-pity and any pride of being right and drag her to the dungeons.

Step 6) The Devil doesn’t pull the trigger, he tempts. Chysalis turning Twilight into a murderer

This was possibly the most sadistic plan one can imagine. Twilight Sparkle has a lot of magic, but she’s never had a reason to use it to kill. Now in the lowest point of her emotions, Chysalis, as Cadense, relentlessly uses the cave’s powers to torment her. With no hope left, all Twilight had was anger, until she started releasing magical blasts with killing force. This was completely intentional, Chysalis wanted this. When she thought Twilight was hateful enough, felt betrayed and violated by her taunts enough, she would make her image appear on the wall separating the hurt Cadense and Twilight. Thinking she finally found the bitch behind the curtain, she would blast Cadense through the heart and kill her. Even if Twilight got back up to the surface, finding out it was a fake Cadense all along and she killed her real foal-sitter, it would drive her insane with grief. She wouldn’t be able to activate the Element of Magic even if they got that far.

This is the only part of the plan that failed, even though plan 3 already made it so success was still possible through Plan B. Cadense managed to convince Twilight she was the real non-evil Cadense, and they escaped together.

Plan B: Destroy all resistance in one blow, defeat Celestia, the 1000 year ruler of Equestria.

This plan was so incredible in how unblinded by arrogance Chysalis was, but shear gutsy. Her plan B was she was literally willing to risk it all on the idea that she could defeat Celestia, someone she knew was stronger then her. And unlike most situations, its the villain that nearly dies from strain of the fight, Celestia was just too ungodly strong. But Celestia underestimated her and with all her might, Chysalis overpowered Celestia and burned her horn. This action made her untouchable to the Mane 6 psychologically, so instead of dealing with them personally, a great risk, she’d have her many minions wear them down. She didn’t count on Cadense and Shining Armor combining their magics to create a strong, evil repelling barrier. It didn’t hurt her or her army significantly, but by the time they got their bearings, they had still lost the element of surprise. This, too, was a psychological loss. The two people she felt she had the most control over since the beginning were the one’s that defeated her.

Truth be told, that’s kind of the age I was expecting you to be…between 16 and 21? I wasn’t much different. But a few years later things started to click and though I knew it would take a while, I’d find my place in the world.

You are not a reviewer. I get that. I like being critical myself, so I can enjoy and prioritize the things I watch, but to each his/her own :)

@Background Pony #16D2
Actually I’m over 20 years believe it or not. But like I have said, I don’t usually try to over anylize these because well… I’m rather simple person myself.

And I have enjoyed S4 with full heart. And other Seasons too. I just don’t start thinking about EVERY single thing about them. I just like to sit down enjoy the magic and the show. And if I see something I don’t like or just question.

I do that. But won’t allow that to stop me from enjoying it.
Background Pony #1EFF
@Background Pony #0E03
Meh, its okay if you didn’t get it. It was really quite an elaborate and sadistic plan, and I can tell by your last comment you’re pretty young. I’ll explain it to you tomorrow.

:/ Simple adventures finale? Adventure is kind of the theme of Equestria.

“And I loved her dilema in S4 Finale, since it was something I actually could identify with. Not sure where life could take me and just feeling… well, useless in a way.”

No offense, really….but it sounds like this episode’s first part, especially the song, targeted the same part of the brain that targets the fuzzy feeling Twilight Saga fans have when reading the books due to its ability for mental self-insertion and ‘feeling complete and wanted’

Trust me on this…Twilight’s situation and dilemma in THAT episode was completely artificial and meaningless. She was already given more significant duties in different cities in the last few episodes so her words didn’t even match her real life. Cadense spent her entire life as a princess before just recently given a role and ruling an empire, while Twilight was already an accomplished sorceress who was given fame, princesshood, and royal status just because. Like this Twilight, she could of just felt good about being a sorceress with (basically) perfect life. Unlike the other 5, does she have any REAL hardship. Of course not.

I loved S1-S3 Twilight because of her quirkiness and her willingness to be kind and humble despite all her benefits in life. In S4 on the toher hand, she always acted like she would always make the right choices in her friend’s shoes, and was a habitual liar in a few episodes as well.

And please, don’t let a self-insertion song and a S4 Twilight be the key to feeling relatable. I can tell you’re a sweet person. :) Nearly all of us feel useless and unsure about our role for a while, even if they don’t show it, but overtime you’ll realize your abilities. They’ll play a part in time :D
Background Pony #0994
@Background Pony #16D2
Eh, I always thought that was her way of taking care of them. Simply just let them stay there and starve to death. So many villains like to fall to that category. Even good ones.

The flower girls, I guess were just to make sure incase Twilight and Cadence would able to escape…

Sonic Rainboom. What else is there to make that wedding simply more amazing than the supposed Pony’s Tail that is Sonic Rainboom? I don’t know about you, but if I knew someone who could do that, I would fricking ask them to do it for the wedding.

And what taunting exactly? Are you talking about Chrysalis? She is a villain she of course she would taunt.

And to me, the whole of Canterlot Wedding was simple adventures finale. Like I said, I don’t tend to look into these things that much since there isn’t need to. They are made for us to enjoy and learn a lesson or few.

Even though the lesson in this finale could have been handeled better.

And Twilight has been my favorite since day one, and still is. Right next to Luna :D
And I loved her dilema in S4 Finale, since it was something I actually could identify with. Not sure where life could take me and just feeling… well, useless in a way.

@Background Pony #0E03
I accept the apology :) But first off, did you watch those 7 episodes back to back? I can’t trust your judgement until you do that.

I’m not sure about the S5 link, others on the Derpibooru message boards found it. It was basically a brief statement on how Twilight and the others having a CASTLE in the MIDDLE of Ponyville would not effect the episodic episodes of MLP.

However, as for your counter argument:

Default weak argument statement 1 and 2;

  1. Its just a kids show
  2. Twilight is the main character (despite them throwing that notion to the side after Lesson Zero) and not the observer main character for the early letters arc 1-28

    I’ll be honest…I have heard others use those weak arguments LITERALLY more then a hundred times. I have demolished them because they are so asinine. PLEASE don’t ask me to give you the brick-to-the-face obvious flaws in those arguments.

    How about cliff notes?
    1)The show has shown its time and time again a for-all-ages show with many clever moral and adventure themes. Use of death threats and phrases that use the word ‘fuck’. Fighting scenes similar to PPG, Fist of the North Star and DBZ. Its characters are young adults and more developed then some anime characters. Its cleverness is the reason why the fandom is so big.

    Explain to me what was Chyralis’ plan EXACTLY for Twilight and Cadence in the cave and, if correct, lie to my face its a ‘childrens’ show.

    Oh and PLEAAAASE don’t tell me you weren’t smart enough to pick up on everything Discord did, since right after telling them exactly how to defeat Tirek…all the way up to the point before Discord ‘the traitor’ winked at Celestia and she smiled back, was an ACT. Please, after a week after airing, most people older then 14 already figured it out. It wasn’t supposed to be a secret _

    Why do you think Discord didn’t tell Tirek about the box when he ‘honestly’ trusted him? Because he lied completely when he said he didn’t see Tirek’s betrayal coming. Why do you think Celestia sent Discord in the first place when she and Luna could of taken him down before he was strong enough to be a threat? For the same reason she endangered the Crystal Ponies…to set Twilight up as the hero while pushing the other 5 out of the way.

    I’ll spell it out for you….Discord is a Choatic Neutral character that uses his ‘friendship’ with ‘Flutsershy’ as a way to troll them without being enemies. He doesn’t want to hurt Fluttershy or Pinkie Pie’s feelings, he has standards, but compared to his intellect they are still dumb kids, although RD gives him the most trouble since RD is a former-troublemaker who knows lying and deception when she sees it.

    When facing Tirek, he pretended to be a Chaotic Good character jonesing to be a Chaotic Evil character again, when in actuallity, he was doing his part for Celestia’s plan for Twilight, and since it was so manipulative he loved it.

  3. Twilight has always been the “John T. Meyers” of MLP in the Twilight letters arc. That was the observational main character role in Hellboy Twilight had in MLP.

    Since Twilight wasn’t even worth brainwashing cause she just gave up, Celestia sent her the letters, giving her the key.

    There is no ONE main character…in fact they set up Rainbow Dash as another main character of the show in Griffon Brush Off cause they reveal she’s ALSO a fairly new comer to Ponyville, from Cloudsdale. She didn’t know Pinkie Pie that well at all. In fact in the second episode, it was all Rainbow Dash’s fault all 6 became allies and then friends. Not only did she take her trial alone, Rainbow Dash led the other 4 to Twilight’s library cause she noticed Twilight knew a lot about the situation. Twilight’s plan was to go into the forest and get killed.

    RD was also responsible for them all becoming the Elements of Harmony when they were young due to her Sonic Rainboom in Cutie Mark Chronicles, so that scratches out Twilight’s supposed role of SOLE main character (rolls eyes).

    RD has always been proactive, impulsive but street smart leader to Twilight’s reactive, organization but lack of common sense leader. Even Applejack has rallied the 6 of them on occasion. And all of the other main characters have dealt with far more mature issues then Twilight. If you want me to give you a list of episodes where Rainbow Dash acts as leader or co-leader in an episode with Twilight in it, I’ll happily give you a list. Two freebies are The Last Roundup and Games Ponies Play.

    In fact, Twilight has actually gone through the least character development out of all of them in quite a few ways. She’s learned a lot, but grown? Celestia was pretty biased on that considering she doesn’t consider the others very important, Twilight hasn’t gotten much wiser.

    When a social situation was happening right in front of her, she was as clueless in Twilight Time as she was in Look Before you Sleep. Pip literally had to spell things out for her, and Twilight STILL didn’t figure out the situation was a peer pressure thing until a few minutes later.

    Fluttershy, Rainbow Dash, Rarity, Pinkie Pie, Scootaloo…they’ve all dealt with a mountain of very adult personal issues.

    But unlike in this awesome comic, Twilight has never confronted her OWN MAJOR issues. And they aren’t even mature, they are very weak-willed ones.

    Twilight Sparkle is still completely without any self-reliance, pleasing Celestia is her most core motivation, more then morality or her own goals in life, and in S4, her character regresses in development when she takes Celestia’s words to heart and lectures the others constantly even when its hypocritical (ex. Daring Don’t, Rainbow Falls). The only ones even allowed to criticize Twilight for her attitude in S4 was Discord, and a little bit of RD, Pinkie and Spike at the end.

    She is by far the least developed character among the 10 main characters (the Mane 6, Spike, the CMC).

    Disregarding Crystal Empire and MMC though, S1-3 Twilight was still one of my top 5 favorite characters cause while she hadn’t grown much, she was interesting, quirky, and bounced off Rainbow Dash and Pinkie Pie and some other characters well. S4 Twilight was far more unlikable, while IDW Twilight is so much more relatable and well written, especially now, she’s probobly in my top 3 favorite MLP characters. :D

    Twilight starting to think for herself on her life goals? Man us Twilight Sparkle fans have been waiting a long time to see that. ;)

    If you percieve the characterization as fine, considering you actually thought Discord was learning something

    As for the agree to disagree, that’s fine with me. But please, do tell me what was Chysalis’s plan for Twilight and Cadence in the crystal caves. The purpose of the flower girls, RD practicing for the Sonic Rainboom, the taunting, everything. Its a good test of observation skills.
Background Pony #0994
@Background Pony #16D2
OK, first sorry if I came bit too forward. What I’m trying to say is that there is no need to go overboard with this. You seem to take this way too seriosuly. It is just a kids show with simple stories and morals.

And again, comics are WAY different from the Animated shows. Just compare Batman comics and Animated shows. One can be more extreme than the other.

Ok, that might be bad way to compare stuff since I’m not much of comic book guy… but point still stands that these two are completely different things. You again have to remember that the show is 20 minute episode. So there are bound to be stuff left out or just have to rush things.

And I didn’t find anything wrong with characterizition in this finale. Rest of Mane Six was fine, Discord was his troll self who seemed to understand friendship better in the end. And Celestia’s talk, I found it understanble in somewhay, but yes, Twilight still could have told something to her friends.

But you also forget that Twilight has been, the MAIN character from day one. We started this show from her point of view. We have watched her grow as a character in Ponyville. She was also the “Main” star in Return of Harmony, since SHE was the one who safed and brought her friends back, and again learned about Friendship.

And can you give me the link where Hasbro mentioned about this for 5th Season, because so far I haven’t seen any of that.

But with that, if you still disagree, why don’t we just agree that we disagree. I love the show, even with it’s mostly small, and sometimes big flaws. There is no need to go all over anylizing it. It’st just innocent fun for kids and adults.

@Background Pony #0E03
Dude, you seriously have got to get your head out of your ass. Making accusations about me with nothing to back it up won’t make any truths. Just watch all 4 in succession and tell me that the Princess Twilight arc is well written and well balanced.
“Applejack: Ow, the tree hit me.” “RD: Ow, the tree hit me too! We give up. Its too bad were so conveniantly useless and don’t have any skills. We need Twilight to fix everything.” ‘Problem is fixed with normal telekinesis with the elements, one of the laziest writing I’ve ever seen’

>“But it was still a great finale.”
In what way? Everyone but Twilight was treated like trash, and the rainbow kingdom in the middle of Ponyville left almost no potential for normal story telling, even Hasbro admitted most S5 episodes would gloss over their regal status.

>“And gave us somewhat closure to Twilight’s role as a Princess of Equestria”
No, they glossed over it JUST like they did in MMC, they just gave her a palace. They said she’s the vague princess of friendship, which basically sums up to the 6 doing what they normally do except now they can’t do that very well because their national celebrities. DHX actually admitted that for S5, saying notning in the episodes would be done differently then S4

“because first, they didn’t have that much focus on that on the majority of this Season.”

I’ve heard that nonsensical argument before. Castle-Mania? Rainbow Falls? These are just a few of the many S4 episodes where they had Twilight portrayed as always in the right with no humility. That’s a lot of attention on her even without being the focus for the episodes, and much of it was highly negative. They removed the relatable elements from her S1-S3 awesome character. They shot themselves in the foot in far more ways then you want to admit. Its hard to write for characters that aren’t written as relatable characters anymore. IDW said ‘screw that’ and just wrote Alicorn Twilight as Twilight, not ‘we are all your students’ Twilight.

IDW still addressed her role as princess without being vague and misleading about it. :) And the kicker is DHX approved of all the comics like this that would destroy the ideas S4 was built on. They approved of Twilight denying to Sombra that she’s any wiser then the rest of her group, that she relies on them equally and that Celestia was wrong in MMC.

>“You seriously need to get over Twilight being an Alicorn”,“So in one way, you probably would have still complained if they had done the alterinte route”, “cliche accusation #2984”, etc

I have no problem with Twilight becoming an alicorn just so long as they do it well written. S4 was an inconsistent mess when it came to Twilight being nationally recognized royalty, and they never addressed it seriously. This scene in #19 was a fine example of well written character development while Twilight is a Princess; even if circumstances lead her to stay as an alicorn, its character growth to at least consider ‘doing what SHE wants’ not what Celestia wants. Is that such a blasphemous crime?

Would I have complained if the Mane 6 fought together like they did in this alternative arc? Why would I? Last I heard, the series was still called Friendship is Magic. Teamwork was non-existant in Twilight’s Kingdom, Celestia openly hated the idea of teamwork in both Crystal Empire and Twilight’s Kingdom.

I’d have to review the 4 Season 3 and 4 premier and finale’s as ranging from 5/10 to 7/10 for their severe lack of good writing or balance. So far this arc in the IDW comic is wavering around a 8.5-9.0/10, cause its hitting many of the good points in writing that MLP focuses on, like teamwork and character growth and questioning what SHE wants.
Background Pony #0994
@Background Pony #16D2
Seriosuly? Why complain about all of that so much? Yeah, Twilight’s Kingdom had some problems. But it was still a great finale.

And gave us somewhat closure to Twilight’s role as a Princess of Equestria. And this being a fan letter to Twilight? You seriously need to get over Twilight being an Alicorn, because first, they didn’t have that much focus on that on the majority of this Season.

And when they did, it was somewhat interesting. Or not… I have to view those episodes again at somepoint…

And second, of course they had to focuse more on Twilight beause of her new role. If they haven’t done that, then you problably would be complaining how they left that one out.

So in one way, you probably would have still complained if they had done the alterinte route, or if they had made this comic in the TV series itself.
Background Pony #1EFF
@RIG
Oh I know. That’s what makes this arc all the more sweeter. :) Why would the readers want this awesome story to take place within the Sailor Moon/Rainbow Kingdom era of MLP? Writers usally like GOOD writing for their stories don’t they?

Most of the best S4 episodes were the ones without a lot of character-regression, preachy S4 Twilight, which this comic goes out of its way to destroy, and could of easily fit within S3’s far too short season minus the wings. While the worst episodes of S4 would seem….obsolete now that such character development has actually occurred.

@Background Pony #70FD
Oh please, even without all the character development here that’s already FAR better then Crystal Empire, MMC, Princess Twilight Sparkle and Twilight’s Kingdom combined…(Also known as the 4 love-letters to Twilight by the writers)…

They introduced an awesome Starswirled the Bearded where the series did not, and had scenes like this
>>613546
and especially this
>>613555

While no one will deny the visuals of Tirek vs God Twilight were amazing, that last panel alone felt infinitely more real, awesome and true to the title Friendship is Magic. I mean, c’mon, which scenario sounds like it actually came out of a bad fanfic when spoken outloud?

  1. The Mane 6 go to an alternate universe where Celestia has been visiting for years, and together they fight evil versions of their benevolent rulers, Celestia and Luna, head on.

  2. Twilight Sparkle is suddenly given all the alicorn magic in the world and she alone fights Tirek toe-to-toe, inexplicably controlling her magic a few seconds before the fight, and fighting, blasting and flying with goku-like power AND SKILLS she’s never had before.

    Let’s be honest for a second, if Twilight’s Kingdom was a fanfic written the exact same way, it would be laughed off fimfiction for how inaccurate and dumb they wrote Discord’s character and how much of an obsessive Twilight fanboy the writer would be.

    Not to mention this alt-dimension arc has so much potential, I wouldn’t be surprised if they returned to it after in-between smaller story comics.
Background Pony #1EFF
‘sigh..This isn’t how I expected my life to be.’

Did…did Twilight just question Celestia’s plan for her own life?

How does that even happen?! :O

Plus in the last scene she DENIED Celestia’s word in MMC that she was the teacher of friendship to them, saying she relies on them no less then on the exact same things, denying the impression Celestia and Sombra got that she was the other 5’s ‘leader’.

Did the comics just DESTROY S4’s character regression with advanced character development?

With Star-Swirled the Bearded introduced, Celestia and Luna not only given casual personalities and character development, and even Celestia a lover….and to top it all that…Twilight is actually questioning Celestia and questioning being a princess?

I don’t know which is the real continuity anymore. D:

The series suddenly feels secondary now to the far less braindead comics. Sure the series will have some new characters, some new small reveals, some new music….but they destoryed any sensible story telling by making Discord an idiot and turning all Mane 6 into royal figureheads in the middle of Ponyville.
Background Pony #65D5
Is it just me or does Sombra change in size? Sometimes he’s as big as Celestia and then other times he’s not that much bigger then the mane six.
