Lampy is dead. Also the castle looks like someone stuffed a generic pony princess castle on top of a dead tree made of crystals or something. At least the Element-Tree looked like a proper crystal tree.

Maybe is some kind of foreshadowing. Like, for example, crystals store energy, magic is a type of energy. Twilight being the the princess of magic stored all the magic from the other 3 princesses, maybe she is not what she meant to be.

Given that I have literally never seen an MLP playset that looks even remotely like its show counterpart, your argument seems invalid. I would counter that it’s made of convex shapes because it is a tree and also a castle, and it’s hard to live in something made out of concave surfaces.
 
(On a semi-related note, if they ever figure out how to make playsets that are as stupefyingly huge on the inside as the show’s internal sets are, while retaining their svelt external volume, I will buy them all. They’d be great places to store my pullulating preponderance of ponies. ;))

I think it looks terrible. You can tell easily that it is made out of easy to produce convex shapes for the sake of toy making.

I’ll miss Golden Oaks too, but this is pretty awesome-looking IMO. I actually don’t like the tree-colored edit as much, because it ignores that this is spawned from a seed of the Tree of Harmony, which is visually quite similar.
