Description

Well I kept reading about how you should remove the RTC capacitor @C7G2/C7G3 because its known to reportedly fail 100% of the time. Which could cause the Board to short out and die. I went to cheek it yesterday and found the Three large Caps at C1E1, C2E3 & C3E2, were getting ready to go pop! Which they all did… But thankfully only after I got them all off the board!

But unlike the RTC Cap. I’m guessing that those Three govern the power to the CPU, and are needed. Its just that unlike the RTC Cap that seems ok to me. Those in the Pic clearly were not.

Point is if you have an old XBOX that you still using (as you should!), you’d do well to check the state of all those Capacitors!

I guess they just got old. Those kinds of Caps have an electrolyte in them that can eat away at the PCB. (Thus the brew haha over the RTC Cap. Which is not in the Pic BTW).
Most Modders will just pull this cap off as all it does is hold the time for a bit while the XBOX is unplugged.
So imagine my disapointment when I saw that. (which is.. Or was my XBOX at the time. Before I removed said Caps. Now I have to wait for replacement parts to come in before I can rebuld it again.

See, this is why I don’t bother with new consoles off the bat. Just like the games, they just seem to be content with releasing betas to the public.
