Pretty sure he’s gonna miss out on the Rarity episodes.
Idiot.
Tommy is a very disliked person. Yeah Digi was also like that, but he’s garnered some fans again when he said he liked Season 4, which is odd since he outright hated the season 4 finale.
Makes it worse when you see what he’s become after he “left the fandom”.
A “season” of buildup that consists, really, of two episodes: “Games Ponies Play” and “Rainbow Falls”. (The brief references to the Equestria Games in “Just for Sidekicks” were basically copy-paste from GPP.) Yeah, it would’ve been neat to see more games, just to see what sorts of competitions the writers could invent for ponies, but I just cannot understand those griping about how the Equestria Games have been “hyped” for “two years” and so DHX owed us an episode focusing on sporting events mostly played out by ponies we wouldn’t have known.
I would have enjoyed a second episode set at the Games, not for the games themselves, but to show the Mane 6 meeting up with characters from their past that were also at the Games. Gilda, Cherry Jubilee, Braeburn, and who knows who else were all there; heck, it would be natural to have Trixie there as well, hoping to entertain for a large crowd. Some really funny and/or sad stories could’ve been told about reunions there.
Honestly, if we wanted to see the Equestrian Games, it’d have been a better place to see them in season 2.
Rainbow went through a lot of characterization in that season and the Games would have been a good place to show her sportsmanship.
But by season 4, Rainbow has moved past that, Fluttershy’s defeated most of her stagefright…Filli Vanilli still makes me question why she didn’t feint in front of the crowd, but maybe it’s just her singing voice that she’s shy about. {Apparently musical numbers don’t count.}
And since none of the other ponies were competing, there wasn’t really anything we could do with it.
Unless the writers wanted to use another canon character coughLightning Dustcough, but again, that wouldn’t work since the show will always just focus on three groups.
The Mane six
Spike
CMC
Secondary characters are optional…which is kind of sad, but happens in shows.
So, while I am a bit disappointed in almost no games being shown, I have to say that this was in fact the best Spike episode up to date. No questions asked. I can’t think of one thing that makes me angry or upset…But I do cringe at the song, but Pinkie’s line made me laugh out loud at the end.
It was a SINGLE season of build up. While that doesn’t invalidate his point its still a gross oversight to claim this was two years in the making, it wasn’t.
Next up is his blaming polsky, no, mccarthy is to blame for it as she is the showrunner, she is the one who decided how to run the arc.
Personally, I’m glad they didn’t show much of the games, because one of two things would’ve happened:
Digibrony said he thought the middle of the season with two episodes was the way to go. No, to hell with that. While a lot of people like to watch sports happen it just doesn’t fit well into the narrative of this show … There would always be something else driving the story because the games themselves is not a story.
I liked the way it was handled, because personally I find sports incredibly boring to watch. Mlp Stories need good conflict or something else going on to maintain interest.
Staying on topic, I agree with his point about this being anticlimactic at least; imagine the Gala episode focusing mainly on Spike at Pony Joe’s donut shop… I also agree with some of the commenters that he probably owed the audience more actual episode analysis rather than let Digi insert his gratuitously long and awkward rant (even if it was some sort of abstract parallel of Spike’s anthem failure).
If you’re not T.O., eh, chill, relax dude, let the drama pass and don’t get your panties in a bunch. The more you defend him, the more people will think you are him, and it will only make him look worse in the long run. Sometimes giving up isn’t a bad thing when the fight isn’t worth fighting.
If you are T.O., please don’t let Digibrony do another drunk segment on your show, I loved the “Equestria Games” episode but I was enjoying your video anyways until he showed up. He’s really annoying when he’s like that. Also keep in mind being a critic doesn’t make you above criticism, learn to deal and adapt with it, and filter out the blind hate.
I can tell you to go suck a dick, would that prove I’m some random guy on the internet, or be too obvious in me trying to cover up a brilliant disguise of me defending myself, if I even was Tommy Oliver to begin with?
I swear, it’s like some of you people were baptized in rivers of infinite stupidity… this is even worse than that time the wheelchair boy’s mom showed up on this fucking site.
You’re Tommy? :O
alright, whatever you say, Tommy boy.
sure thing, it’s not like I’m already tired of your crap and trying to shove blame on other people, while riling up everyone in a paranoid mob.
of course I must be Tommy Fucking Oliver. because this is exactly the kind of thing he’d do, waste his time and talent here, on an irrelevant comments’ section, with an alibi user that exists for years on many forums, games, sites.
you need to learn when to quit mate.
OK, now I honestly think you are. For a person who claims Tommy Oliver is a “stranger” to him, you seem WAAAAAY too defensive about him. And by constantly responding to people who disagree with you, ya might as well be him.
joy, more brilliant speculations and wild allegations from mister co-conspirator.
please, don’t stop, tell us more about your wild theories on Tommy Oliver..
yeah, I’ll just stop here. I’ll let the man himself deal with this once we puts up the follow up to this episode, or, you could go on his tumblr and pester him there like everyone else.
I can’t help but feel this person is Tommy Oliver himself. He seems so adamantly defensive of him, I can’t help but feel this way.
They were questioning if he qualifies as a reviewer because he wasn’t reviewing what the episode was for the most part; he was just reviewing what it wasn’t and what he wanted it to be. That is bad criticism.
He DID give them a warning to leave before he pisses them off.
we’ll see about that in the follow up. A lot of people have been questioning in his qualities as a reviewer for considering his opinion over the contents of the episode, demanding an answer.
Does that sound like a reasonable demand to you, asking the reviewer to explain himself in front of his watchers? this is borderline NC fanboy bitching levels.
and I’m not overprotecting him, I understand if people have different opinions, but people disagreeing with him on grounds that he’s made a shitty job as a reviewer is not only an exaggeration, it’s downright childish, because we all know the real reason they’re being outraged by his review..
