I suppose. I’ll just say either of our logic could work, if Hasbro (hypothetically) wished to create “seachangelings”.
That’s my point, their are aquatic races of ponies, makes sense normal changelings can shift into them and live down there. There is food down their after all. No need for a second race of changelings, normal covers all.
Because (albiet in past gens, not G4) we had seaponies as an aquatic race of ponies, hence I’m tinkering with the idea of an aquatic race of Changelings.
Why do they need an equivalent? They can shape shift pegasii wings and unicorn horns that work, gills probably would not be an issue.

In my headcanon now, if we ever had a seapony equivalent for the Changelings, these “seachangelings” would be part eel rather than part fish ^^
I like to think eels are what changelings turn into when they swim.
