Well Sombra set up these traps to try to capture this crystal bard which had escaped him. So hard to say if this was paranoid or anger.
haha, I made that exact same comparison a week ago.
So….Sombra is Stalin?
King Sombra might have paranoia then.
The next panel, when they purposely active them, they all raise their spires and stand at attention (itself part of of a trap that pins those within it in a net against the cave ceiling held there by the raised lances)
I think you got that reversed :P
The comics are kinda hit and miss. The High school story, for example, was just EQG without any redeeming qualities.
It is as if they were containing something below, something so dangerous that even a villain like Sombra had to take measures to contain that evil.
He also re-purposed these statues into a trap. I think after this comic, he has the personality of a sadistic, monstrous slave driver with an ego the size of the moon, but unlike Chrysalis and Discord, he’s not above putting it aside to conquer his objectives.
At least that’s something.
This comic alone gave Sombra more personality than the Crystal Empire episodes :)
Seriously, though, Crystal Empire show might have shown him to be extremely thorough and ruthless, this shows him to be also egotistical and a civilized tyrant.
What “differences”?
If anything, being an egomaniac gives him more personality, not less
And that would be?
FWIW, the next few panels affirm these were non-magical automations (part of the traps in the caves)
The problem is that it kills one his difference differences with the other villains.
“Stereotyping” him? He’s already a Dark Lord with a Dark Tower and Black Magic and a cape. He was never exactly a rich and complex character, and him being an egomaniac fits perfectly with what little we already know.
The “full of gears” line makes me suspect these were nonmagical automatons designed solely to salute sombra. I could be wrong, though.
Fuck, they are stereotyping him by making a megalomaniac.
ego and likely combat. they must be golems of some form.
still, they did not stop the regal sisters from soundly defeating them, even if they could not stop him from vanishing his kingdom.
