Thats pretty dismissive there. Trixie is - at least - as skilled with ropes as Applejack is. Probably more, since she can control the entire rope with her magic. She definitely showed in Boast Busters she was pretty capable.
 
Its not like its Applejack’s special talent or anything. its just her conforming to a stereotype. Of course in cases of extreme dexterity the unicorn who does fine control tricks with her horn is gonna be better.
 
As for anti-magic devices, im guessing none exist. otherwise the alicorn amulet episode would have been a lot shorter.

Trixie can use ropes and tie knots with her magic. Applejack is good enough with ropes to use them as a weapon and lasso a flying target from another flying platform.
 
But yeah, AJ, you totally dropped the ball on not doing something about the horn. I’m sure there are ways you could make sure she doesn’t use her magic…

The only conclusion is that Trixie let this happen.

I’m always confused by how people think this could work. Not only is she a unicorn that could just nega-slice through those ropes, but she’s been shown to have proficiency with ropes.
