I’ll admit the line about ‘the forces knew exactly what to say’ was a bit confusing….
…but then you have to take into account that Luna admitted to lying to everyone about that in the final chapter.
She admitted that she misleaded the ponies into believing that the ‘nightmare forces’ were something other then herself. She admitted the force that entered Rarity and corrupted everything on the moon was all her OWN inner demon. ‘Nightmare’ is none other then all the most negative repressed aspects of Luna, the Princess of Moon and “Dreams”. She insisted it was her burden to bear only, admitted it was all her fault, and admitted Nightmare Rarity was a demon of her own fears and hatred.

When people of such enormous power as the alicorn sisters succumb to that kind of darkness, it can drastically increase their power, especially if one was too young to realize their full power the good way, like Luna. The trope of Evil Power-Up is ages old, and does NOT have to come from an outside force, just the darkness of someone with massive potential power.
well… we really never see Celestia being victorious for his own… so i couldnt really say… just because is suggested… we really never see her do something… but that is other subject…
but what it came down to is interpretation of words
in the scene where the Nightmares remind Luna of their “deal” it is more than likely that Luna had made a deal with the forces their “world” for more than likely their power - let’s be honest, even I have to say Celestia would beat Luna in a one on one fight (she even beats a Forces infused Luna, so I doubt normal Luna would win)
I think for the most part you can call Nightmare Moon, “Legion”-pony
I get why some believe they forced themselves on Luna because they did it to Rarity - but their is no real confirmation if they did it to Luna
I then i dont know.
Maybe i got confuse because it say “the nightmare forces somehow knew exactly what to say to convince me… to give me their energy and hate.
To me that sound like they are the once powering up all the Nightmare moon bussiness.
and the fact that rarity is transform into “Nightmare rarity” tell to me Luna had not much to do with the persona she took.
First off, it sounds like you didn’t read the story at all. In fact, to be honest, it sounds like you don’t understand Nightmare Moon’s story in the least.
Second, it sounds like you treat this story with so such bias and grade school immaturity phrases, half of my explanation you’ll intentionally ignore regardless. But I’ll try anyway:
The “evil cloud” that infects Rarity IS Luna. Nightmare Moon is every bit Luna as Luna herself. Nightmare Moon is Luna who has allowed herself to be completely consumed by darkness. All the other evil cloud creatures are simply creatures of the moon she corrupted and warped to do her bidding.
In fiction, beings of extrodinary power can often have the most powerful of inner demons. Absolute power corrupts absolutely, and compared to other ponies in Equestria, Celestia and Luna practically are goddesses. All the cruelty of Nightmare Moon’s persona came from her own mind fueled by her own power and repressed anger. NO outside force.
The Elements of Harmony are a power of pure good that was able to free Luna from that dark pit of hate. She could fall again, but obviously Luna doesn’t want to.
Normally, that would be that for Luna’s inner demon, but that demon has existed for 1000 years on the moon; it took on a life of its own. If you’ve ever watched Dragon ball or Dragon ball Z, Nightmare Moon is basically Kami’s King Piccolo…a manifestation of his own hate that separated itself from Kami and became a demon.
If you don’t believe me, here’s an EXACT quote from the comic book by Luna
“My bitterness and anger transromed me into Nightmare Moon before. I fear it could happen again. It’s my burden.”
Whenever Luna refers to Nightmare Rarity, she refers to her as her OWN fear and darkness. Not any outside force.
how to explain it.
luna is sad and weak, so an evil cloud come and say “hey, i will solve everything”, so she fall on the trap. so now all of NMM stuff is nightmare forces doing. so now the responsability of everything NMM is because a cloud of evil creatures took over Luna, because she is a Pwincess, and she was just a victim.
Luna can talk all she want about “oh no, i did horrible things”, but at the end all is fault of the evil cloud creature.
i could be totally fine with the damn story if it was like “Nightmare forces was a creation of Nightmare moon existance” and you can have exactly the same friking story!!!! with out going “oh no, luna was tempted by the bad guy, all is bad guy fault”
@DemonioBlanco
While I sort of agree the comet was kind of new and out of nowhere, it focused more on the fact that Twilight is Twilight Sparkle, not just the Element of Magic. Besides magic itself, her core affinity and interest is in the stars, the night sky. It was no wonder that Chysalis, depowered without Shining, would be shocked by Twilight’s power up if it has something to do with who she is, like the magical comet. (Chrysalis weighed her options and realized she couldn’t take on Twilight and drain her magic so easily and expect to win against Celestia and Luna afterwords. Her plan failed.)
She’s Twilight Sparkle first, the Element of Magic second, and I thought that was pretty well written.
(The dialogue in IDW wan’t going to match the show’s dialogue style perfectly in the first place, its a different style and I can understand some might find it odd, but the core elements of the characters remain intact)
On the other hand, I have no idea what your talking about with the amazing Nightmarity Arc. Luna constantly blamed herself for her actions as Nightmare Moon, her confidence shot for most of the comic.
For a while in the show she thought Nightmare Moon was gone, but she still felt insecure about her prior actions in both the show and the comic. The scene where she is staring at her statue of Nightmare Moon in Luna Eclipsed was really well done and they dived even deeper into it in the comics.
But with her dark side so powerful it managed to become a being in itself, Nightmare Moon, Luna’s dark half for 1000 years, possessed Rarity. Rarity was the perfect choice because not only was she an Element and has untapped potential, ….Rarity had a regal air to her yet possessed some of the same feelings of inadequacy compared to her friends as Luna did for her sister Celestia.
Luna had to confront her own inner demon, and to make things worse, she was possessing a much loved Element of Harmony and resident of Equestria. Despite armoring herself up and confronting Nightmare Rarity, Rarity powered by Nightmare Moon’s 1000 year old hatred, despite not being an alicorn anymore, deflected her blasts as if it was nothing because of Luna’s trauma and lack of confidence.
It was only after she confessed to everyone the mistakes she made and the weakness of her heart, and that everyone forgave her and showed her how she could change and HAS changed, did she regain her full power and fight to undo everything she did wrong.
So I have no idea what your talking about when you say that they made Luna look blameless. Her inner demon had become an outer demon for everyone to see, so in her mind, everything Nightmare Rarity did was on her head.
Yeah, the end of TRoC arc felt like a cop out. I know that Twilight mentioned the comet before but that still didn’t excuse the how easily Twilight wins. Ditto on the Nihgtmarity arc, it’s they like the writer actually thinks nothing is Luna’s fault.
one of the things i disliked the most about the nighmare rarity arc thing was how they just made Luna a victim, because all was the “evil cloud fault”, and with the chrysalis arc, i just couldnt read it. i didnt found it funny or entretaining.
im not saying “it is weird” like it is subreal. but is like i dont think it isnt anything special, i mean, for what i hear the entire chrysalis arc end with an anticlimatcic battle where twilight say “i have the power” and laser to win, and thats it.
i just dont like the comics.
That’s who she is! I knew the costume was familiar and it was bugging me that I didn’t know why.
I don’t know, I loved the “Queen Chrysalis Returns” arc, and I don’t see how the comics were any less strange then the TV show honestly. Plus, I love Andy Price’s artwork, and funny/cute facial expressions.
Don’t see what was so bad about the “Nightmare Rarity” thing either, (granted I only have the first part to that unfortunately) in fact, I actually liked Nightmare Rarity’s design It was kinda a clever, and unexpected way to bring back “Nightmare Moon.”
(Would’ve been to cliche’ if Luna just turned evil again, if you ask me.)
i will not that much.
it just went like “oh look, there are my little pony comics, lets take a look”
read issue 1,2,3 when they was comming out…. and i couldnt progress, i just didnt liked them, they felt weird to me. so i leave them alone.
then heard about the Nightmare rarity thing, took a look, and oh god i disliked it so much, everything, to the point than i just feel the comics are full of stupid….. so yea, saying something like that make me sound like im the one full of stupid. but thats it, i just dont think the comics are that special
care to elaborate?
is not “about this”, are just in general.
i tried to read the comics, and mostly couldnt pass from issue 3. so i couldnt see the supposed “greatness” about the comics
and then the Nightmare rarity issue came, and that one piss me off so badly than i just cant look at them with out rancour.
just not my cup of tea.
What’s so bad about this? It’s just another “superhero”-style double-comic cover.
is it the balent VA joke about Twi dressed as the scarlet witch?
Also, I’m betting Trixie isn’t even in this issue.
