Jan and Shady had contacted the legal office in the censored area and verified whether or not it was real, which it was. Yes hasbro lawyers would contact a youtube content maker via private message because that is the only way for them to send the C&D form. Unlike Fighting is Magic and MLP online, Jan does not have a website, his youtube channel IS his website and youtube are not allowed to give out personal information about the user.
 
The name missing one letter doesn’t mean it’s fake. That’s a bold assumption based on a very understandable mistake. They probably copy & pasted the name and didn’t question the spelling of it, just that the message got across.
 
Also, the area with the Lawyers name and contact information are censored to stop fans from bombarding the office with anger and demands. Jan wants to become a hired animator and has voiced his desire to work on hasbro programs with DHX, why would he want fans ruining his reputation among the company?

I actually thought this drama related to Celestia fucking with the Ponies (AGAIN!)

Huh, that’s a bummer… I liked JanAnimations’ fan-animations.
 
Of course, keep in mind a similar thing happed to the “Pony Anthology” parody video series, so maybe Jan’ll be allowed to put them back up again. (Maybe with disclaimers pointing out they’re fan-animations, and such.)

Here’s a comment from the EQD post that talked about the alleged C&D that suggests that the C&D in question is probably fake:

Despite my first comment on this issue, thinking about it now, without panic, I can say this was definitely not Hasbro.  
And I’m not in denial now. I already came over the panic and sees it completely calm now.
 
First, everyone can fake that. Every idiot on YouTube can create a account that looks like a Hasbro account, sends a message to a fan animator and tell him that he violates Hasbro’s copyrights and should stop that while plastering him with laws.  
That’s not hard.
 
Second, Hasbro doesn’t send a C&D per YouTube message (!), never.  
It would send a official letter, or, more accurately, would tell it’s lawyers to do so in case it wants to do something against a copyright or trademark violation.  
For two reasons:
 
Hasbro is aware of it that everyone can fake such a message and that there is no evidence for it that such a message really did came from it.
 
And, only a letter by a lawyer has a real weight. Sending a YouTube message would be like “Uhm, could you please be so kind to take down our copyrighted materials? If that’s okay for you…..” That would be like a friendly ask, not more, nothing you have to comply to.  
You only have to comply to a lawyer that tells you about infringements and that you should take the material down.  
That was also the way Hasbro always acted when it cease and desisted something (My Little Pony Online, Fighting is Magic).
 
And third, the fact that the adressor, that was named by ShadyVox as Hasbro, is censored is kinda strange. There’s no need to do that.  
This censoring makes it clear that there is something fishy going on.  
I let everyone of you figure out for yourself what this censoring means, cause I don’t want to do long discussions over that matter now.
 
Anyway, don’t panic anymore, this was not done by Hasbro. Hasbro would not act like this if it would send a Cease & Desist.  
Everything is still fine with Hasbro’s acceptance of the fan animations. “
 
I suspect things will be made right fairly soon once Jan realizes this himself.

Jan got a C&D? Ugh… Ok, as somebody who’s actually defended Hasbro before for their C&D, (like I understand them haulting the pillow thing) but that’s kinda overkill… Now we can’t even have show-accurate, non-profit, fan-animations?
