I think the ponies chosen are meant to represent the commando units of each faction, not the factions themselves.

RA2 didn’t have the Japanese (making it wayyyyy more thematically coherent, but anyway…), they only got introduced in RA3.

Also, wat. Talk about random character choices. The very least you could have done was go with Pinkie for the Soviets. Because puns.
