I thought that was some sort of defect!
Also, many of the workers tend to be abusers, and they need something to do. There’s a policy in place that fluffies can only be harmed in experiments, and that any worker can apply to start one. You can figure out the rest.
How does infesting them with bizarrely sophisticated parasites help to reverse-engineer them?
I developed the headcanon that this is a state of the art fluffy research facility, designed to reverse engineer the fluffy, mostly for the benefit of fluffy owners. To counter the negative press of this abuse, most of the test subjects volunteered and were told of the risks before they entered, simply because they needed a home. Every fluffy member of that facility were approached by someone who told them they would be allowed to stay somewhere and get food.
To be fair, whoever’s keeping them there and not helping them seems pretty heartless. But at least it’s out of sort-of-legitimate scientific curiosity. (Though it’s possible that they created the parasites themselves to begin with.)
Normaly, I would disagree, but I will concede, the concept of a type of foal that ruins a mother’s milk is quite an interesting idea.
