It’s been something of a showcase that anytime Spike (in the few times it happens) has any interaction with the CMC or fillies in general, he is usually treated much older than them.
I had no clue myself. Then I saw those “Spikeabuse” comment of people who seriously believe that Twi keeps Spike as a slave, doesn’t care nor loves him at all and that it would be better if Spike run away from her.

Oh for corn’s sake. Stop watching the show. Seriously, stop watching the show. If this upsets you, then every single appearance of Spike is going to end up upsetting you.
^I’ve reached my boiling point on Spike abuse by now. Never in my life have I ever felt such frustration and disgust over what’s happening to a younger cartoon character.
Seriously, people freaked out over some minor thing that happened to a background character, but this ongoing abuse is allowed to side? I thought the writers of mlp were better than that!

The “Oh Spike!” face she keeps on making.
Whenever he trips, whenever he falls, whenever his work is for naught, she is constantly making that freaking face.
Go check every one of these butt monkey Spike scene this season. You’ll see Twilight making this exact same face.
What would you call it? Once again Spike is not rewarded for doing the one thing that makes him important and useful in the lives of others. The poor kid never catches a break.
It’s only bad if you make other people do stuff to make them like you. (like DT’s butler)
If they liked you already, then it’s okay to make other people do stuff. (like Spike)
