If it doesn’t involve pie, then I’m all for it. I think the whole SoarinJack is only based on pie and that’s definitely selling Soarin’ short since he’s much more than that. If there’s something I’m not seeing in SoarinJack that isn’t pie, than that’s pretty cool.

I feel like a lot of shipping couples don’t have much support if we only follow the show’s interactions. It really is up to the fans to flesh things out, and there can be surprising results.
 
I’m not much of a Soarin’/Appledash fan, yet I enjoyed WarrenHutch’s Earth and Sky because it really showed them interacting as believable characters with the rest of the cast. I actually warmed up to the idea more after reading that story.

That’s definitely a good point. Especially the “actual doing stuff” part. Hugging/cuddling/kissing is fine, but there needs to be some doing things. Common interests. Common activities. Again, at least Soarin’ and RD have common goals and interests. Pony FlashLight has nothing for it.

While they may have similar personalities, the different situations are interesting. Pony Flash can’t play a guitar or drive a show-off car, for example.
 
Here’s the thing about the Flash shipping: I never see them interacting with the world. Artwork like this is lovely, yet there are a lot of images of them kissing, hugging, etc.
 
Why is there no fan art of a snowball fight? Or attending a town party together? Or just exploring? The obvious romance theme is running stale (as with many shippings). I’d enjoy seeing how folks envision this couple when they’re not wrapped in each others’ gazes.

Know what’s funny. He actually doesn’t get all the hate as believed. When he appeared in Three’s a Crowd, Theissen admitted to getting praise as well as hate. There are some people that DO like Flash and like this ship.
 
If nobody liked it at all, there wouldn’t be 466 images of the ship, now would there be?

Yes, he could use more development (Most of the complaints about Flash are about his human counterpart, which are being unfairly applied to pony!Flash in most cases.) But given the circumstances of why he exists in the first place, I kinda doubt Meghan or most of the show staff wants to give him it.
 
His sole reason for existing was Hasbro wanted someone for Twilight to crush on.
