(Especially sense some were giving me a li’l guff about my opinions) I suppose I tend to be optimistic with the show. I don’t “blindly love everything about it,” I just honestly haven’t seen one episode I “hate.” Even the more “mediocre” episodes amused me. So I really have no reason to be soured with the show like some are.
 
I’ve had my doubts before, like with Discord being “reformed” in “Keep Calm and Flutter-on,” which I wasn’t very keen on, at first, but I liked it was handled. (I like how Discord’s still a li’l antagonistic, just in a more subtle way.) I also had doubts about the EG movie, and while it’s not something I’ll watch a million times, I still felt it was ok. I was also worried S4 would create alot of drama/controversy in the fandom, but luckily we haven’t had to much fan-drama compared to last year. (Aside from a few upset over the Daring Do episode, or the Tumblr hatred for bronies lately. Maybe a few other minor things to like the Flash Sentry cameo.)
 
I admit there’s still a bit of negativity/pessimism in the fandom, and while everyone’s entitled to their opinions, I think some fans just will never be pleased. Don’t let them get to you, and just enjoy whatever you want.

I just wanted to thank you two specifically for reminding me of the bronies I knew when I first started watching the show, just before season 2 started. There are others, of course, who’ve remained optimistic, friendly, and tolerant, but you two stuck in my mind the most. Sadly, the fandom’s sinking in a morass of negativity, revisionism, hostility, and hatred, and I’ve got to get out before it aggravates my depression more than it already has.

I’m surprised I haven’t heard one speculation yet that that laughing pony next to Derpy might be her mom.

Moondancer is shown in the comics. Twinkleshine being Moondancer talking in the rd person is just a joke from the Friendship Is Tragic webcomic.

Well, I think the braces are cute. Though, I had nothing against Derpy’s appearances sense we haven’t seen her hardly at all in the past 2 years. I suppose she is a bit overrated in the fandom, but even I have to admit I adore the Derpster, and some of the other background ponies. One of the things I like about this show, and fandom is the variety in design of the BG characters, and the love the fandoms gives them.
 
Though, I admit it would be nice if they hid Derpy’s appearances in most future eps. I wouldn’t want more people getting soured with Derpy, and such. The chocolate fountain bit, and filly Derpy were cute/funny bits I have to say though. I think Derpy was more over-exposed in “Rainbow Falls” honestly, but she hasn’t appeared all season ‘till then, so I’m not bothered by it.
 
Besides, it’s not like they only use fandom-ideas, and such. I don’t remember any fanon of BonBon being geeky as a filly. Lyra hopping in the background seems to be more of a call-back to how that’s all she used to do in the show.
 
I don’t consider it pandering with stuff so subtle, I think the show’s/comic’s makers like the BG ponies as much as we do.

I was more referring to Minuette/“Colgate” having braces.  
I thought the other fillies were cute. Even Derpy, although this episode gave me Derpy OD.

I think there’s no harm in the show referencing itself. It’s not referencing fandom. It’s like I’ve been saying since the start: if a show can make a reference that no one else will even notice or bat an eye at, that’s fine.
 
It’s sort of like seeing something “dirty” in an innocent thing with a possible double meaning. Is it the “thing”, or is it you?

I’ve been “soured” on Derpy since The Last Roundup.  
And yes, if they gave brony symbol pony #2 (DJ) a major background presence it would put me off a little.  
Much like if they suddenly starting giving Dr. Hooves speaking roles and changed his voice to have a British accent and he would spout off a Doctor catchphrase like “wibbly wobbly” or whatever.
 
But seriously, I’m not “getting bent” over any of this. Rubbed the wrong way? Yeah. Put off? Slightly. But I ain’t losing sleep and certainly don’t feel the need to drop this show just because some animators are doing something now and then I don’t like.

I still like to think that Lyra is originally from Canterlot and Derpy is from Cloudsdale.

So you’re soured on the character just because of 2 episodes? (Yeesh, I’d hate to see how you’d react if DJ PON-3 appeared for more then once a season.)
 
They didn’t show the Derpster for the first 9 episodes of Season 4 at all, and hardly at all in Season 3. A couple of appearances in 2 episodes in the past 2 years is really nothing to get so bent over. (Plus the chocolate fountain bit, and filly Derpy were cute, I felt.)  
I really don’t feel that burned out on the Derpster over 2 measly episodes honestly.
 
Though, I do hope they still give her more “Where’s Waldo” appearances to. Finding her was kinda fun to. I hope they don’t make all her appearances to obvious, that’s the only thing I’ll kinda agree on, but I don’t mind a few gag/cute bits to.

Also, I’d totally be okay with them not showing Derpy anymore. I only liked her as a silent cutaway gag in Feeling Pinkie Keen and as a sparsely spaced background easter egg.
 
I disliked the Derpy in Rainbow Falls, and the overdose in Pinkie Pride.

Look, I gave 3 bullshit reasons (that those that complain about fandom references use) and 1 legit reason to not have them (because the people that LOVE LOVE LOVE fandom shoutouts hate the people that don’t care for them).
 
One less fandom drama to deal with.
 
Personally? I’d rather they not mix fanon with canon. Some of it’s really stupid. And I hope they don’t continue the trend. But it’s not going to stop me from watching the show.

Don’t get your panties in a bunch. I admit my mistake in that Twinkleshine was the one speaking in the pilot, I thought it was Lemon Hearts and Minuette addressing her in the third person. It doesn’t change the fact Twinkleshine is often mistaken for Moondancer, and that Moondancer has not yet appeared in the show.

I don’t know why everybody gets so upset over such things. Why is it so bad that this background stuff that effects nothing storywise gives a nod to the people who love the show?
