Kind of necromancing what I found out recently that’s the Burger King appearance in the first film I can having to do with any sponsorship and was more noticeable than the actual product placement
True, though a controller glove might not be good for consoles nowadays, it might be good for VR.
When “Wild Gunman” was released on WiiU Virtual Console/Eshop, everyone on Miiverse was saying that. lol
I must add, it’s cool the Wii-remote speaker emulates the NES Zapper trigger sound for the Zapper games.
Forgot about that.
Oh, and video games without controllers, though “Kennect” didn’t really catch on.
and dogs being walked by drones
Coincidentally, the movie predicted some things, like 1980s nostalgia, 3D movie theaters, touchscreen handheld devices, TVs with multiple screen options, voice recognition devices, and stuff.
the hoverboard is from mattel in the film.
also it’s kind of funny being a kid and being super excited for flying cars and now I’m thinking dear god no
Yeah, I mean nobody lost their schmitz over Marty McFly drinking Pepsi.
Speaking of which, people complain we don’t have hovercars yet, like in the movie, but I want dehydrated Pizza Hut pizza in foil packages.
to be honest I’m pretty sure Adam Sandler is trying to be funny with his blatant product placement. and sometimes the product placement is just saying the product in normal conversation all the products just existing in the movie. And of course even beloved movies and franchises have product placement
Yeah, to be honest, I kinda prefer movies using actual products/things for realism, then fake knockoff ones which oftentimes look silly.
I remember the Adam Sandler holiday animated movie “Eight Crazy Nights,” (which I didn’t think was as bad as some say) took heat for that, but they said they just wanted those Mall shops like Panda Express for realism, and they didn’t get payed at all to use them.
Wayne’s World did a good job poking fun at movie commercialism, and clichés from the ’90s.
I do remember people keep saying that Ralph breaks the internet was a commercial but I felt that only said that was actually being plugged was eBay which was doing charity work with the film. The rest felt like they were there to make it feel like the actual internet
“It’s sooo bad.” (Granted, the AVGN showed it sort’ve worked for some games. Sure wasn’t as good as a Wii remote.)
At least, “Wreck-it Ralph” wasn’t a commercial. Sure it had many cameos from Capcom, Sega, Namco, Konami, ect. characters, but it was more of a love letter to retro gaming, and the cameos & references didn’t dominate the movie. (Loved the “Sonic Says” nod.)
During the “years later” fast-forward montage, you can briefly see many different classic games like the Konami Ninja Turtle game, and “Sonic the Fighters.”
Edited
yeah they clearly know nothing I mean they thought the power glove actually worked.
to be fair I guess the blatant plugging for stuff they don’t technically sell anymore would be kind of funny now because of dated they are.
the same thing could happen to the emoji movieRegardless, I still enjoyed it, and it was probably one of the first medias that didn’t demonize video gaming like alot of movies & shows tend to do in regards to any new technology or “New Media.”
(Heck, Pixar had business trouble at first, because people were so afraid computers were going to replace animators.)
@northern haste
Yeah, it probably isn’t possible to get a score that high in so little time. It was a fun movie, but they sure knew squat about video games.
Surprised they knew about the Mecha Turtle TMNT boss, (his first form oddly looks like Slash) or the River Devil from Zelda 2. Though, they probably got that from Nintendo Power magazine.
Edited
it’s even more impressive when you realise he literally just started playing and that time include the opening cutscene
Tetrisman64: How cliché!
Or at least in America.
