The third part was what pissed me off the most (A GIANT plot hole of how the older kids were there, corny lines like ordering for a pizza (Even though in the original the part when he was talking on the phone was from ANOTHER part of the film!)
Key word there “objective”, the dub of Our War Game was the better of the three but it was still a joke compared to the original.
Also that movie was awesome and the dub of ‘Our War Game’ was better than the original. That is an objective fact.
Four Digimon movies? They must of dubed the last 02 movie, that would be Revenge of Diaboromon, both Tamers movies, and the only Frontier one.
The only other digimon movies are X-Evolution(the first fully CG one), the Savers one, and the two 3D ones one with the all the Adventure and 02 digifmon(no humans) and one with the Savers digimon(again no humans).
Right, I’d forgotten about Battle of Adventures.

Ah. Well, the Frontier movie was dubbed around the same time. Though for some reason I was thinking that a total of four Digimon movies were dubbed around that time… Were there two Tamers movies?

Ah yes Runaway Locomon, just before the mostly stupid looking Trailmons we have an awsome looking train digimon, but that was a Tamers movie.
There is only one Frontier movie.
They did indeed. Several years ago, Disney ended up dubbing Revenge of Diaboromon, one of the Tamers movies, and one of the Frontier movies. I forgot which one the Tamers and Frontier movies were, but I think the Frontier one involved a train…

Since we’re talking about Digimon, it’s a shame that Joshua Seth retired. It really sucked that he didn’t reprise his role as Tai, in Revenge of Diaboromon. Instead, they got the guy who replaced him in Duel Masters.
And as it wasn’t there is leaves a plot hole of how Willis, Davis, Yolei, and Cody all got to the place of the final fight before T.K. and Kari.
Willis,T.K., and Kari all came from New York but Davis, Yolei, and Cody came all the way from Japan.
Nope.
The plot about kidnapping? I think that was used in the movie’s synopsis.
And part of the plot dropped, the older kids where cut out completely.
I really don’t know. Hell, in retrospect, you can tell that something isn’t right. Case in point, aside from the corny jokes and the references to Willis that were shoehorned into the first two parts, the dialog is mostly accurate to the Japanese version. Except, the third part is an absolute mess, with scenes that were removed, switched around, or reworked to fit a completely different context.
The difference in technology does bring a certain parallel to the films. While “Summer Wars” is built around technology as we understand it today, “My War Games” has a more retro feel to it. Izzy using a satellite in order to get internet access because the phones are all dead? Not a problem for us in the Wi-Fi age. Atleast when it comes to phones.
In a way, the technological limitations that the Digi-Destine had to go up against made the whole story extremely intense. How they go about using their current technology to fight against the deadly virus digimon is interesting. How the main characters in “Summer Wars” use their current technology to fight their deadly AI has that same feeling.
While both films seem to follow the same guideline, they are both very fascinating to watch because of when they were released. There is so much to analyzed from time difference alone. I love it! They are both great movies and one of my all time favorites.
That is all that is needed to be said.
And why couldn’t they’ve stuck to just that?
That’s fairly common in Digimon though. The rights to the series are owned by several different companies in America, so there are all sorts of inconsistencies across media.
Seriously, what gives with that?! It just proves that Digimon: The Movie was a sloppy-ass mess!
I know - “Digimon: Our War Game” (which became the first half of the English Digimon Movie), was good, but Summer Wars expanded on the concept.
Social media wasn’t as developed at the time, either. Char rooms, email and bulletin boards were the main ways of communicating online.
They cut out the subplot of Wendigomon kidnapping the kids from Adventure… and then forgot to remove info about it from the VHS back of the box blurb. Whoops.
