Yeah, the Pegasi channel the Greeks/Romans better, as evident in their architecture and their historic dress.

On the other hand, I figured Griffins would be the Britons. Maybe because of the common usage in seals, being part lions, and also because I just want to see some of them carrying those rifles in that silly red coat and tall hat.

Hrm… I do suppose that most ponies who visit Ponyville would want to see Sweet Apple Acres, thus maybe making it a tourism spot and them needing to advertise that fact

Though I personally kinda pictured griffons being Germanic rather than Greco-roman.
