Well, their Power Rangers contract with Toei says that they can’t skip Sentai, but as far as I know, there’s nothing stopping them from adapting earlier Kamen Rider series. I mean, look at Dragon Knight. Ryuki originally aired in 2002, but Dragon Knight aired in 2009.
I swear, if Saban ever gets around to that “Power Rider” thing that they trademarked the name for back in 2011, they better not pull something like this again…
@matt0044
Don’t forget to say that Ventara is an actual world where the “mirror world” of Ryuki is literal mirror image of the real one but with no people or animals of it in ther, just the mirror monsters.
@Star Cavalcade
Well, Ryuki is much more like Highlander where all the riders duel until there’s only one, organized by one man with a noble desire, to save his little sister. A journalist becomes a rider to protect people. However, he finds that his ideals of “peace” and “working together” aren’t shared amongst the rider who are all fighting for a single wish.
Dragon Knight involves a young man becoming involved in a war against an alien general trying to conquer Earth through the Mirror World, Ventara.
@Prof.NightJack @matt0044
Just seen Dragon Knight at the moment, was meaning to get round to Ryuki. Wasn’t expecting there to be that big a difference between the stories, though the ‘missing dad’ part does seem like it was shoehorned in.
And Masked Rider seemed kinda like Amazon in the whole ‘Rider having to adjust to normal things’ angle, but it played out more like Alf with stock footage fight scenes added.
@Star Cavalcade
Further more, Masked Rider didn’t have to be true to the original. Heck, I dare say the overall plot sounded like it hard potential (despite being like Superman’s story) but all that was shot to hell and back.
@Star Cavalcade
True to the original? Erm, Dragon Knight and Ryuki’s plot-lines are worlds apart.
Dragon Knight is a more traditional Kamen Rider story whole Ryuki was like a deconstruction (Shinji’s a nice guy like your typical hero but gets shat upon since the world’s not always nice back).
*liking Masked Rider
That was your first mistake
I’m betting on Fourze. High school, outer space, monsters. I’d be surprised otherwise.

But who knows?
Which series do you think they will (or should) adapt? Fourze (high school and whatnot)? Den-O (slapstick comedy)?
They definitely trademarked that name, it’s just that nothing’s come of it thus far.
Is that “Power Rider” even true?
Plus, the atmosphere is super corrosive.

Dragon Knight wasn’t true to the original in anyway, it also was done by another company.

I doubt it would’ve made a difference. We ended up with a ‘true to the original’ Dragon Knight and hardly anyone noticed.
What a shame…
Remember, that part was from the Sentai, so you see the problem.
yeah…you can see why Turbo didn’t fare too well
More serious? Isn’t this the series that had the Rangers baked into a giant pizza?
