True, so it still doesn’t give you 100%, which you still have to get on your own.

I guess that is a li’l annoying, but in the end they’re just sparkles, and as stated those helper items are just optional, (and you need to die ALOT in order to unlock them, so they don’t just hand them out) and easily ignorable.

Admittedly, I did restart my “Super Mario 3D Land” save file, just to get the sparkles. (Can’t complain, as it is a fun game, so I didn’t mind playing through it again.)

But as I said, if it encourages Nintendo to make harder levels in Mario games, without fear of turning off younger gamers who fear anything “hard,” then I’m all for it.

Honestly, I don’t see what the big deal is. I’ve been a Mario fan for years and I don’t have a beef with the Invincibility Leaf. If anything, the power-up looks like epic fanfic material and artwork.

Don’t be so butthurt over an item that let’s you beat the levels easily. When presented just ignore. Its not that hard.

Besides, if you DO use the item you won’t be able to unlock the hidden levels and get perfect completion on the game (New Super Mario Bros. 2) unless replayed back and beaten on your own.

They hate easy things. And back then, you didn’t get a save file that forfeited sparkling stars if you used an item that got you through the level.

I never got why people complain about that. It’s no different then the P-Wing item, or Jugem/Lakitu’s Cloud item from SMB3 in a way, that both let you skip levels. (Optionally, if they were to hard for you.) So they really aren’t that “new” a concept.

If they encourage Nintendo to not nerf their game’s difficulty when making new games, then I’m fine having these assist items for beginners/children.

In Super Mario 3D Land, however, if you beat the game without using it, not only does the Block NOT appear in the Special World, but the stars in your profile stay sparkling forever.

The White Tanooki Suit is not that helpful. It may help you get through early levels quite easily, but a large majority of the later levels have instant death hazards that it doesn’t protect you from. And the game makes you do some really tricky platforming that makes you have to at least be good at using the it. Oh, and I’m pretty sure that the appearance of the assist block does not ruin your perfect file. As long as you don’t pick up the leaf.

Nintendo really needs to stop with this super guide or item that basically lets you beat the level. It takes away the satisfaction of finishing a hard level that took many tries to complete. I know it is optional and all, but it is really dumb to have something that can beat the game for you.

When you can’t complete a level, you have to think about how you move throughout the level and change your strategy. It’s all about trial and error. I just hate what they are doing now. :/
