The End wasn't The End - Found a new home after the great exodus of 2012

If you look at the road they walked in on in Episode two of season one you will see a winding dirt path leading to a large wooden door. If you look off to the right side of the season 4 episode 3 image you will see a similarly winding dirt path leading towards a similar wooden door. Theory being: following the dirt path presented after the bridge will lead you to from the s4e3 position to the s1e2 position.

Or, you know, the artists weren’t too worried about making the castle in S4 match perfectly with the one from S1. Give them credit for remembering to put in the bridge-o-doom near the entrance, at least.

The Mane 6 may be farther away from the ruins in season 4 shot than season 1, but that doesn’t change how much larger the ruins are in Season 4. Now it looks large enough to be a castle, rather than some small fort or something.

Well I can’t be too sure, but if you compare the positions of the mane 6 below to Twilight and Spike above, you can tell that in that frame they were much closer to the castle than the preview picture. Also in the preview picture I do seem to recognize the same doorway.
 
Though it’s still likely that they changed some of the castle’s design
