“It’s not what you do/don’t believe in that makes you crazy.”
Heh, that reminds me:
An atheist goes to Ireland. Upon arrival, one old guy asks him “Are ya a Catholic or a Protestant?”
“I’m an atheist.” says the atheist. “I don’t believe in God.”
“Aye, but is it the Catholic or the Protestant God ye don’t believe in?!”
Both are crazy, I’ve been hassled by both psycho Atheists, and psycho religious people alike. It’s not what you do/don’t believe in that makes you crazy.
Still better than preachy theists.
Yeah, I guess we should stop before this becomes a huge political debate.
Though I think you’re being a bit to paranoid about Geraldo, and stuff.
Also, Colms back when he was on “Hannity & Colms” was a well-known Fox News liberal, and he was pretty out-spoken about his opinions. While I’m not a huge fan of Fox News either, I’ve also seen them criticize republicans to like Bush, so I don’t really think they’re as biased/right-wing, as many claim, but I’m not going to deny most of the political pundits who have their own shows on it are biased. (But as I said the left-wing pundits on other news networks like Rachel Maddow who are just as biased.)
I just get tired of people acting like they’re the only biased news network.
I don’t know all of the shows on Fox News, but if Geraldo is representative of the liberals you describe, I strongly suspect that he is playing the part of the straw-man to paint liberals as completely out of touch with reality. As for CBS, I don’t think they forged the documents themselves. They failed to properly verify them - which is negligent, but not malicious.
As for criticizing the right and never the left…well, you’re wrong. Both sides do get criticism. In particular, I’ve seen hard-core libs rail on Obama for domestic spying, indecision on Syria, and failure to man up and call the situation in Egypt a coup.
And in response to your earlier comment, many networks do have an obvious bias. There’s a reason I don’t get my news from MSNBC. But in my opinion, Fox is the most egregious offender.
…I promised myself I wouldn’t mix ponies and politics. Guess I should stop now.
And as I pointed out already Fox has had some liberals working for them to so they aren’t entirely right-wing.
Y’know, I always see every other news network support all the Democrat candidates/presidents, and have their own agendas, and such, (heck ABC practically aired an entire documentary on Obama the year he was first running for president) so I really see no difference. Heck CBS News was SO desparate to get dirt on Bush, they aired forged documents on him just to try to make him look bad.
(Though honestly, I don’t think either Bush or Obama are “great” presidents.)
Even most TV sitcoms, and stuff are more left-wing, and I’ve seen them take shots at the so-called “religious right” way more then they do the left, (like “Family Guy”) even though that side isn’t perfect either.
I’m not trying to say the left has complete control over the media, as the republicans, and/or conservatives have some things which I’m not a fan of either. (At least some like “South Park” make fun of both sides.)
But honestly, I don’t really want to argue which side is “more biased,” or has “more media control.” I’m just sick of people only criticizing the so-called “religious right,” and never the left. That’s all I’m trying to say. (Though, I guess the same can be said for right-wingers, as well. As I said, I don’t respect anyone who worships their political party.)
I thought that dog was supposed to be a parody of leftist retards, until I realized the show’s writers actually think like that.
Well, “think” should be in massive sarcasm quotes.
Threads like this are great for finding and ignoring idiots on DB. Pity we don’t have an RES-style user-tagger.
The difference is that Fox news was built from the ground up by Rupert Murdoch to be the propaganda arm of the religious right. The other news stations may sometimes stray into fraud territory, but Fox is there by design.
Roger Ailes is the guy who was put in charge of Fox news. He worked in the Nixon, Reagan, Bush and Giuliani administrations and under him Fox has pursued a nakedly partisan agenda. It’s because of his direct control of Fox’s messaging that Fox news does so much work to further climate denial and his chosen culture war issues.
To be honest, I think all news networks are like that, not just Fox. Others have oversensationalized things, or misrepresented news, and such. (I even heard CBS News once set a car on fire just to report on it.) None of ‘em are perfect, but I just wish people would call-out other networks to, when they misrepresent things, or when they get “biased,” as well. It seems “biased” to me people only do that with Fox, and because it’s trendy to hate them nowadays.
I’ve also seen bronies try to demonize Fox News, just ‘cause one guy (who wasn’t even a reporter, or anything) made a negative remark about them, but I actually did see an unbiased report on the brony fandom on Fox News, as well before, and negative ones on other networks, as well.
Heck, Howard Stern tried to make all bronies look like sexual-deviants, and stuff.
The issue isn’t so much that Fox is conservative. I would welcome an honest conservative network, even though I’d disagree with most of what they said. It’s that they deliberately misrepresent things. They don’t outright lie - it’s still pretty hard to get away with that - but they slant things in such a way that the conclusions many viewers draw from it are demonstrably incorrect.
Also, I’m pretty sure Geraldo Rivera is a complete hack who will say or do anything if you pay him enough.
Amen.
@Beau Skunky
AMEN.
Yeah, I really find it hard to take political/social commentary seriously when it’s coming from ponies. (As much as I love ponies.)
Plus, it’s kinda annoying when people to try to make a character (Pinkie & A.J. in this case) their figurehead/s for their own beliefs.
Alot of people (including some democrats/liberals) felt the character Brian (the dog) in “Family Guy” was kinda ruined when they started making him basically the preachy mouth-piece for Seth Macfarlane, and the writer’s left-wing views.
I have no strong feelings one way or another. Just found this on my Facebook feed, and found it odd for whoever made this to use ponies. :3
I guess that’s the “joke” of this pic… Either that, or OP is soap-boxing how we should worship the donkey-party.
(And apparently thinks they don’t over-sensationalize things to… Like people saying they were going to move to Canada if Bush got re-elected. They’re no better then the people who wanted to secede from the nation when Obama got re-elected, if you ask me.)
I honestly get tired of people demonizing Fox News, and usually only for the reason that, “They aren’t liberal, and we should only have liberal news networks, and ideals.” I don’t really respect anyone who worships their political party, (left, or right) and never thinks for themselves, and automatically side with their party on every issue.
“Oh my party hates guns, and violent video games! I should hate those things to, and try to outlaw them!”
Also, ironically, Fox has had some liberal shows, and things before on that network to. Heck Geraldo who has his own show on Fox News is sooooo liberal, he thinks Castro was a “great leader.” (Even though nearly everyone in Cuba hates him.)
Even Bill O’Reilly is actually a “moderate,” and said things before like he doesn’t like republican vice-prez Dick Cheney, and actually said he hopes Obama’s plans work back when Obama was first elected.
I’m a Republican, but even I have both liberal, and conservative views.
And even worse post pics trying to argue their views.
No one here is going to change anyone’s mind one way or another, and all the OP is doing is trying to start cr4p.
She may be a conservative, but she can recognize crazy when she sees it.
it’s no different than the other 24 hour channels
