I respect your opinion in the kindest way, but I do think that Alicorn Twilight is a good addition to the show. I really don’t understand why people would think that this would be “jumping the shark” and that this “ruined the show forever”.

Am I really the only person on this Earth that doesn’t give a shit if Twilight’s an alicorn or a princess and would gladly accept her, the same way I accepted unicorn Twilight (They’re the same pony anyway.) and would rather just sit back and relax (Maybe grab a bucket of popcorn.) and see how season 4 will play out? (I’d might also see how the Twilicorn war is brewing, while I see the unnecessary love or the unnecessary hate I get for making this comment.)

I still kind of want them to die honestly. They’re pretty stupid, constantly cause problems by being stupid, and generally just aren’t entertaining or amusing to me. I know it’s deeply unpopular view, but Pinkie is much the same for me for much the same reasons. They’re “zany” in the most forced and cringe inducing of ways. This was of course established entirely under Faust so we can certainly lay blame on her for that. (In fact if rumor is be believed I’ve heard it said she wanted Pinkie to be even more obnoxious)
 
To be totally honest all seasons thus far have had hits and misses. S1 had some proper stinkers, crappy lessons, and having been largely produced before the entire ‘brony’ movement it’s more kiddy orientation really showed in places. The departure of Faust merely tended to provide an easy rationalization going forward. “If she had been here so and so bit I didn’t like would have been better”, ignoring that she certainly oversaw some less then stellar materiel when she was actually around.
 
Really on balance S2 was as good or, in my view at least, better then S1 so I didn’t give such whiners a shred of credence during it, nor did I give them much in the lead up to S3, or even during the early part of it. The opener was kind of ‘meh’, but overall I wasn’t seeing any huge decrease in quality and it had some good eps mixed it. The truncated length did IMO make the misses feel a bit more prominent though by having fewer good eps to hide in.
 
Then Twilcorn rumors started… then they were confirmed… and then it all went to shit. Then to top it all off the manner it was done in came off as sloppy and rushed. It was just bad even the defenses of it tended to be in spite of it’s faults, not because of it’s merits. It was probably the first real creative misstep on the show (and boy was it a dozy!). A bad ep here and there happens, but this was a major change that frankly just bombed with the audience.
 
It placed the fandom at a knife’s edge I think. The show has been good enough up to now that many are still willing to give it chance despite the blunder, but it’s used it’s get of jail free card. Another blunder of this scale is probably non-recoverable, and even if their isn’t another one If they can’t step it up and produce an at least above average season the huge numbers on the fence are probably going to write it off anyway. It’s crunch time Twilcorn was a definite slump and S4 will show if they learned from it and can overcome it or if it’s probably downhill from here for the cartoon at least.
 
I think this season will make or break the series in terms of if it can potentially endure over the long haul or if it should really just end after this.

“Luna Eclipsed” was written by M. A. Larson, though it was one of the season 2 episodes that Lauren Faust was more heavily involved in before leaving the show.

Did he really hate it? I think he was fair to it. He just had some problems with it. like that the moral was just a rehash of the Zecora episode.  
After all he gave it 4 of 6 Cutie Marks.
