It’s luck of the draw.Obviously,if you think about genetics,Rarity’s recessive pony gene came first in Gem,while Spike’s dominant dragon gene was first in Lavender,like Twilight said…

The interesting thing is that there’s so many interpretations since there really aren’t any rigid depictions of the result of unicorn+dragon.
Yeah, It would be something like Lavender has more like dragon likeness while Gem is more pony oriented.
Lavender is a girl.
I always thought that draconies that are a result of dragon/unicorn should have horns, but I guess not? That fic that Carnifex wrote makes it seem like Lavender can’t use magic or breathe fire (at least yet).
