Not always the case. I loved my first command. Had a great time working there and didn’t even mind going to work. My current command sucks, though.
xDD I haven’t played WC2 in soooo long. Well, it made for a nice convo chain, at least.
I’m saying where I work in the Navy isn’t a real job. You know it’s bad when most of the leadership can’t stand being in the military anymore, due to how much it has changed.
Sure, there are plenty of who actually sacrifice their lives for an organization that exploits it’s enlisted personnel year after year for freedom, as well as personal gain.
You can make a good career and enjoy your job as a military member, but you have to work at it, something that I’m not willing to do. Too much effort for the little amount that I receive in return. Six and a half years of service and I have nothing to show for it except all the stupidity that went on with the leadership that could’ve have been easily done without hurting it’s personnel.
In case you haven’t figured it out, I’m quite dissatisfied with being in the navy. Not everyone is. It’s case by case.

Yeah, my dad was a sonarman chief back in the day and he said the the same thing you did about sticking with jobs.

Meh, it’s more the surface rates, especially IT’s. : ( I have a CTT sub friend who has no problems with all that.
Is it fair to assume you guys aren’t/ weren’t submarine sailors because I’ve never, nor has any of my old ‘A’ school chums who went to different boats, run into those issues. I still do the job I signed to do …
And about that job security comment I assume you mean PTS, right? There was a 2nd class sonarman on my sub who had just finished re-rating from AE and from what he told me I thought they were getting rid of that (not sure because submarine rates are in no way over manned so I never really had to deal with it, just hear-say really)

Eh I FEP’d out a year early, didn’t have enough cash to bribe the MAA and he was new so he didn’t feel like being nice, passed the physicals but the weigh in killed it for me, at that point I said fuck it and let them do it, got a honorable and got out,
It really depends on your ship and officers, i got lucky in the first bit for the first year but unlucky the rest, pack of jackasses who only cared about themselves and not a damn about the enlisted.
Ahhh, I can’t wait~ Less than a year and a half until I’m out of this shithole… <3 That is, unless I can’t get my cardio waiver and they kick me out early… e o e
It was, I got out and now i’m GI billing it up with my faience and sleeping in on weekends, fuck duty days up the can :D

He’s got the right of it, Be damned if I didn’t two two tours of duty in the fucking galley and doing a goddamn topsiders watch whenever it suited them, as a snipe who isn’t supposed to be fucking seen above the main deck except for chow I sure saw too much sun if you catch my drift.
It certainly isn’t the Navy. I signed up to be an IT and since getting to my second duty station, I’ve been doing five other rates’ jobs and haven’t even touched a computer in almost two years. I’m not an electrician, I’m not a cook, I’m certainly not a janitor, I’m not a yeoman and I’m not cryptology. Everyone ranked e-5 and lower is exploited by a chain of command whose only goal is to make sure that they look good.
Hell, we don’t even have job security anymore.

Eh, I’d rather be doing a real job for twice the pay and half the bullshit.

They use echolocation. One yells HOOAH or DEVIL DOGS or similar, and all visible who do not reply are assumed to be the enemy. Or worse, in the Army.
