Its kind of like trying to stop people from calling anything drawn in a remotely japanese style “anime”.
Pretty much anyone slaps the tag furry to even the most loosely related anthropromorphism, and further discusion gets lost in the back wash of insanity that is rabid denial of the label or being lambasting by anyone looking for a kick.
Maybe these furry chart comparison images will help. (Or maybe not.)
I never really liked the term “furry” honestly, why can’t we just call them “animal cartoon people,” or “anthros,” or something?
It’s just not conducive to a properly descriptive discussion, and more restrictive limits to what Furry means have to be imposed.
Except a male feminist would be a guy that wants his wife to be equal to him. Nitroglicerine is a thing.
And furries can be intelligent. Not all of them have weird fetishes, are assholes, or pepper everything with anime tropes and things like that. (And bronies are technically a sub-set of furry)
You have a point… I really don’t think bronies are in any position to “shame,” or mock other fanbases like the “furry fandom,” considering some of ‘em do some of the exact same things furries do. (Same goes for bronies bashing fanbases like say the Sonic-fans for things like “having to many recolor fan-characters.” …Sooooo ironic.)
Never been to into the furry-fandom, but I have nothing against them, and I like some anthro’ characters, (like Star Fox & Ninja Turtles) and some anthro’ artwork, I admit.
Replace Brony with Furry (even if you don’t accept that one is a subset of the other) fedora with fursuit, and replace friendzone with accusations of full-blown bestiality.
Oh, sorry I messed up there, I would of known…
I know, I was being facetious, and making fun of people who talk/type that way online.
Up until 2006, then The Pokémon Company is in charge of almost all things pokemon.
Didnt 4kids makedub Pokmonz?
>MLP IZ 4 KIDS
I do not understand, MLP is Hasbro not 4Kids. :P
You’re close, his exact words were, (copied and pasted word for word)
“WTFFF!! FCKKING NOOOB!!! D3LETE DISSS ACCOUNNNT NOOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! U LIKE MLP!!!1 MLP IZ 4 KIDS!!”
Didn’t really offend me, I found it pretty funny actually. I can’t even tell if he was being serious. (Somebody got him banned to, so he must’ve been pestering others to.)
I can already Imagine the hater going all like “I SAID STOP LIKING PONIESSBQHSJSBAHWGQH! Seriously, it’s just a show. If they are just going to whine and bitch about it the leave the goddamned Internet for good!
Even if any/all fandoms gets picked on, there should always be a limit, seeing as how we’re dealing with actual people on the other sides of the screen. Lighthearted jokes are fine, some of the things I’ve seen (death threats, fake commissions, bombardment of comment sections with negativity) are most certainly not. When stuff like that happens to you more than once just because you admit you’re part of an internet fandom, that’s completely ridiculous, and it’s more than understandable if they feel a bit testy after that.
Further evidence that bronies are furries, sez I.
That is exactly why I, and to that extension people in general, mock furries. It’s the ridiculousness of their culture (admit it, it’s silly, and that’s really not a bad thing) compiled with their strange sense of self-entitlement. They act as if they’re an ethnic or religious group when all they are is fans of anthropomorphism. They’re free targets, essentially. They get every bit as offended as a black person would be if I shouted a certain N-word in his face when you make fun of them, and yet all they are is a fandom. People will get mocked for their interests. Everyone. It’s the way life works, and yet they get all high and mighty and cry “fursecution” when it happens (Yes, they actually do that, Google it). Of course, all this does is generate even more entertainment and attract even more assholes such as myself.
Dig >>418360 this. That red deleted comment from Jade_Manique was one huge poorly misspelled diatribe against me, and I was in tears laughing. And look at all I said to trigger it: a simple stab against furries. Level with me here: How can people in general be expected to not make fun of people who act like that?
Or if you want the short answer, I’m a dick who revels in the ability to trigger such a strong emotional response from someone by saying really nothing at all.
Similar, yes.
A “subset” though? I disagree.
Many people consider themselves bronies and are just fans of the show without getting too involved in the fandom.
Furries are different since they typically are fans of anthropomorphism in general.
Bronies are born generally out of FIM.
Alright. It’s hard to tell, I had to deal with some unpleasantness in another thread and I really don’t want to snap at anyone.
Yeah, I was just expanding on what you said, not disagreeing with it.
Your point? If anything you seem to be agreeing with me(?).
This guy gets it.
My impression is that saying all bronies are furries is like saying everyone who’s not a little girl yet watches MLP:FiM is a brony. Which is true if you use the most inclusive definitions of both groups, and don’t use qualifiers like “drama whores” or “cloppers/yiffers”.
