They were SUPPOSED to show a Rocky & Bullwinkle short, but instead we got a teaser for a future Dreamworks film.
Mom hopes that the Blu-Ray version of Mr. Peabody & Sherman will have tons of extras.
Well, it had alot of puns, and self-deprication humor like the original show, so I wouldn’t say it was that far from the original. (Aside from a few liberties they had to take.) And yeah, it was great they still had June Foray. (She’s pretty old now, and still does voice work occasionally.)
My only complaint/critique was maybe it was hard to see Jason Alexander as Boris Badinov for me. Renee Zelwigger did Natasha’s voice pretty good though.
I loved it!
Mr. Peabody and Sherman was pretty good.
Despite my disappointment with its final half-hour, I’ll have to agree 100% with that. Compared to the source material, it was a significant let-down, but on the whole it was still entertaining enough that I bought the DVD on sale for ~$4. And it was still a joy to hear June Foray as Rocket J. Squirrel, even if her voice wasn’t exactly the same as it had been 40 years previous.

I don’t care for Sparity, and I’ll still agree with that.

Yeah, it wasn’t “perfect,” nor an “amazing epic,” but I enjoyed it. What I do like most about it was that Rocky & Bullwinkle seemed pretty in-character to me, like when Bullwinkle remarks, “I’ve been repelling viewers for years.” He’s said similar self-deprecating things in the original show.
The first third of Rocky & Bullwinkle was darn good; the middle third was hit-and-miss, but was still enjoyable enough. I just thought the movie fell apart in the final third, with almost nothing I found funny.
Also, Jason Alexander is a great actor and a swell guy, but he played Boris completely wrong.
All my opinion, of course…

I don’t know, I liked the 2000 “Rocky & Bullwinkle” movie, because it kinda poked fun at the usual tropes associated with “cartoons-turned-live-action movie,” and kind subtly satired these kinda movies.
Plus, it had Jonathan Winters. That guy makes anything awesome.

The movie’s going to include a CGI Rocky & Bullwinkle short, which will serve more as a test to see if they can make a new movie with the characters.
Well, we’re getting way off topic here, but… I loved Rocky & Bullwinkle as a child, and still consider it one of the best cartoons made for television, despite the wretched animation. Unfortunately, every attempt to resurrect a Jay Ward creation without Jay himself at the helm has turned out, shall we say, less than ideal. I don’t have a lot of faith that Dreamworks will turn that around with Mr. Peabody and Sherman, but I’m still hoping against hope that they can capture the spirit of the original and use it as the heart of a good theatrical feature.
Ah, yes. The movie that pissed off Theodor Geisel’s estate so much they said they’re never going to allow another live-action version of his work.
Live-action versions of popular cartoons don’t do well, much less ones based on children’s books. I’m looking at you, “The Cat in the Hat”. (shudder)
No. I was talking about them running out of ideas.
Yeah, my mom loved Wonderdog. Imagine how she liked that terrible live-action version that came out a few years ago.
