Well, there are a bunch of elements that return from 3D Land. The 3D Mario game that plays like 2D Mario, the many assets from the previous game return here, Tanooki Suit included, etc. So in short, 3D World has many things that make it distinct from its precessor, yet kept some other things to keep it relatable to it.
Yeah, Nintendo just seems to be recycling and mashing together previous names regardless of how closely they match with earlier titles in the series.
That said, multiplayer in Super Mario 3D World is a lot of fun. I’m going through the game right now with my friends.
And ironically, Super Mario 3D World turned out to be very different from its predecessor.
I figured it was thought to be an upcoming title for Wii U, which there isn’t, far as I know.
It is. I don’t recall seeing Peach being playable in 3D Land.
And yet, some of the bashers don’t have a problem with games like ‘Call of Duty’ or ‘Madden’ having the same thing over and over for each game. Hypocrites, the lot of them!
i think people tend to see mario as a milking franchise heck mario has been that way since what 1985 lol i mean look at smb2 lost levels that’s basically a rehash of the original game with harder platforms.
I ment “short-sighted.”
That’s kinda a short-sided view, considering it isn’t even out yet, or has had much revealed about it. It’s like saying “Majora’s Mask” is the same game as “Ocarina of Time.”
I think there’s enough differences to differentiate them. Plus, this new one looks better, better-designed, and more challenging. (And has the option to play as other characters like SMB2. Including the Princess, which some wanted to see playable, meaning we might have a new story now.) Plus it has a few new gimmicks, like the transparent pipes, and the way you go through them. So it has a few new gameplay features.
Admittedly, I don’t have “3D Land” yet to really have an idea of what the game is like, but was I the only one expecting the WiiU game to be a sequal to it, and not that surprised?
Honestly, it wouldn’t be any better if it was “Super Mario Galaxy 3,” though I’d like one of those to. ;)
If you want to sell me a new system, don’t release the same old crap for it. I already own this game on the 3DS.
I think both games look good. I love both Super Mario & Sonic personally.
Seconded.
