As for why shitstorms start, they usually come from people insulting each other, regardless of subject matter.
I’ve been on Derpibooru from the beginning, and on Ponibooru before that. I’m saying I rarely visit sites apart from Derpibooru.
I don’t see a problem, been here since ponibooru was down.
You haven’t been on Derpibooru long enough to compare every thread of comments and why downvote storms and shitstorms in general start. Derpibooru is full of child-like zeal.
That’s not quite how I remember it.
As for Derpibooru, I don’t go on enough other sites to compare, but most drama flare-ups nowadays are blatant troll bait or dredged up rants from when it first came out, often by Twilicorn supporters.
People overreacted because they thought being a princess meant moving from her library and being better than all her friends. However, Magical Mystery Cure has received primarily praise with about the same ratio of drama any other major episode caused. On Derpibooru, however, most of the bitchy minority have found their haven here when the other communities grew tired of their drama and trolling.
If people didn’ like it when it came out, why would they like it now?

I have been legitimately diagnosed with Asperger’s, which included a small library on the subject being rammed down my throat, and you’re talking shit. We tend to cling to familiar things, yes, but we do adapt to the new normal. Anyone slinging alicorn drama at this point is not doing it from autism.
Those with many forms of autism, including Asperger’s, have a habit of clinging to a familiar thing. When that thing is changed, they tend to act out relentlessly. This is how the term autistic can be used as a simile to legitimate autism.

Not preaching, just a thought. Variety is good, but Princess Twilight of all things isn’t exactly the safest choice.

To be fair, every gen involves japanese mithology one way or another. Except gen 5, which was made with intentionally American feel. And yet they STILL sneaked tons of japanese stuff in it, like Darumakka etc.
Gen 2 revolved around Japanese mythology, it’s bound to be weird.
It added many memorable Pokemon and served as the basis for gen III, making it very important. It’s just.. the Johto region. Natu appears around the Ruins of Alph, by the way, which is one of the weirdest places in the game.
