Same here. Probably why Kefka’s one of my all-time favorite villains. Game!Eggman has already been a threat since the first game, with Sonic generally as the one spanner in his works. And believe me, once you know what Archie!Eggman’s done during his tenure you’ll hardly think of him as ‘harmless’.
Yeah, some try to say Eggman isn’t an evil/threatening villain, but in “Sonic Adventure 2” he actually held Amy Rose at gunpoint, (and even says at one point if Sonic doesn’t hurry up, “she will die!”) blew up half the moon, threatened the president, (and threatened to blow up his entire country with the Eclipse canon) blew up Prison Island, (and all the people on it) and came close to killing Sonic in cold-blood.
All of that in one game.
He’s hardly what I’d call a “harmless villain,” but he’s also not completely heartless/evil, and quite hammy/goofy to. I like villains like that who are both threatening, yet kinda funny to. He’s basically like Captain Hook. (Not the Disney version. The original version was a bit more competent, like the one in the 1991 movie “Hook.”)
Yeah. Goofy as that Eggman may be, he’s done a lot of bad things.
That’s what I love about the comic version of Eggman/Robotnik. One moment he’s a goofy campy villain, (heck he wore an Elvis wig in one issue I recall.) the next moment he can be rather freaky.

He goes both ways. From amusing
To not so much
And to think, some people say the Sonic comic is “to serious.” :P
Gatta love Eggman’s comical lines.
Makes you wonder why he even bothers.

wut?
These guys mean business. Heck, they even rebelled against Eggman… BEFORE THE GAME STARTS. Most baddies that Eggman try to tame only rebel at the end of the game.
