I wonder if anyone remembers the old Marvel Comics version of Starscream. The one who was a coward, sure, but he could be amazingly cunning, ruthless and brutal when he actually got really motivated.
When even Soundwave is terrified of you, you’re doing something right.
True, true. He is my favorite Decepticon, you know. Something about such a generic design housing such a cold, focused evil just does it for me. Soundwave’s the same, but I think he’s less evil and more just in line with the Decepticon ideals. There’s some merit to wanting your race to rule the universe and usher in a golden age for your people.
BUT, he’s consistently one of the few competent Decepticons, and even in the G1 cartoon, he was always a cold and emotionless, logic driven, solder/scientist.
Not consistently. On the one hand, Dreamwave Comics Shockwave made Megatron his bitch. On the other, G1 cartoon Shockwave was Megatron’s bitch.
