Technically, it’s not illegal to be a prostitute in the US, either (and not just in Nevada); that would be a status offense, and you can’t declare someone a felon just for what they are, even if they claim it–they have to actually commit a criminal act (IE, the exchange of goods or services for sexual favors).
Well, we can also look into Swedish law:
It isn’t alowed to be a Prositute, but it is alowed to buy sex
Sorry? I thought the definition of prostitute involved being someone that was paid for sex?
I admit I haven’t looked up the definition but I’m pretty sure that’s what the gist of it was.
In Norway it is allowed to be a prosituter, but it isn’t allowed to pay prosituter
That would have nothing to do with degradation to women. Prostitution would be open to both genders if legalized, and like pornography, both genders would seek it out as a revenue.
Odds are if you need a license to do it and all it took to get the license was a checkup to make sure you had no diseases and to be of age it’d be pretty easy to come around to finding clean prostitutes. After all they wouldn’t be in hiding form the law; forced to do things in secret. they could even rely on the police for protection after it were legalized. All in all it would be a far better job if legalized.
The customers could easily be registered as safe-sex-able also. Just like they do with everything else about people.
Probably a simple card with your name and picture on it that would expire every 2 months, Complete with your latest checkup date.
People could still get it on with people, but they’d just not be able to do it professionally without their checkups.
This would clean everything up pretty well I think.
Considering how AIDS spreads, a quarantine and purge followed by a cleansing of the blood banks would have worked wonders. But alas, these conservative twits kept denying even its actual existence until the 80s.

You know what’s even more awful? Wage slavery. It is by far one of the freest pursuits one can have in the west that doesn’t involve a university education.
She wont want to do it if she’s a cop and cant arrest you for it.
But a prostitute would be happy just to strip.

And you /wouldn’t/ feel just as degraded and objectified by becoming a male prostitute? Says more about you than about the industry, I think. It’s awful for both sexes.
Because male sex workers don’t exist, amirite?
I’m a little morally dubious about that, too, but /technically/ it’s not entrapment. Or rather, it’s only entrapment if the officer makes a come-on to the john or mentions sex first. If he offers money and mentions sex, it’s entirely legal.
Also, it would be obscenely expensive (heh) to fund that much proper licensing and inspections. Sure, it works found around Vegas, but can you imagine doing it in, say, the Wisconsin dells or Lancaster, Pennsylvania?
The problem is, it also promotes the degradation and objectification of women, and it can lead to the hardcore drug trade, overt sex slavery and other serious crimes. Prostitution is not a victimless crime.
If legalized and regulated (as in Nevada), you have mandatory condoms and regular testing.
I’ve been to the Chicken Ranch several times, but I’d never trust a street hooker.
You’re right, AIDS and syphilis should be allowed to spread freely!
They can’t arrest you for that and she wont want to.
Reality: An undercover cop NEVER has to blow their cover even if you confront them on it (well, a judge can force them to at trial, but that’s pretty much it).
Also, cops aren’t always the good guys like their PR machine claims they are.

Don’t you remember all those school assemblies you went to? The police are our friends. /sarcasm
