I watched the movie. It was just as how we all knew it was going to be. A highschool generic bomb that should have never have even been thought up.

The End wasn't The End - Found a new home after the great exodus of 2012

I watched it, let myself enjoy all the good parts of the movie, gave it a full, fair, thinking through, and didn’t think it was all that great at all. 6/10 material at most.

That’d be a good compromise. Unbiased data’s always best even if it ends up not supporting your views, but also showing where that data comes from would be valuable data as well. Different types of people visit different pages for different reasons. If the data showed that people on /mlp/ generally wouldn’t watch EQG at all or if they did ended up “hating it”, then that would be valuable info in itself (just as an example, since you said that BG pony was right it seems like that would be likely data). And if EqD showed mostly positives that’d be valuable as well. Which is more accurate data is hard to tell, but every time I’ve been on 4chan (or /mlp/ specifically) it seems they are much more harshly opinionated and partly express themselves as such thinking it’s a message to Hasbro saying “here’s what you shouldn’t do.”

This is the BP that you responded to, and this other BP is correct. Also, I think any survey about EqG should count the opinions of those who decided, based on the trailers, spoilers, and reviews, that they hated it enough to not even bother seeing it; that group’s data would need to be kept separate from the ones who have seen the movie, so we could still tell what the reaction of those who’ve actually seen the movie is, but it wouldn’t be an accurate picture of the fandom’s reaction to leave them out entirely.

There were two huge plot holes in Iron Man 3 (like seriously how did they overlook those?) but pretty much anyone who likes Iron Man or special effects probably enjoyed it, especially since it had a lot more feels in it.

Being flawed is not the same as sucking.

Hell, some of my favorite works of all time have some pretty serious flaws. Sonic Heroes is one of my favorite games ever, and even I admit that it has a LOT of problems.

So, basically, your stance is that Equestria Girls sucks, but we’re still not allowed to say it sucks?

@Background Pony
He’s saying EqG haters, not him. And if you’ve ever perused the fine pages of /mlp/, it’s an accurate assessment of their views; they see EqD as being a mouthpiece for Hasbro, and anyone that doesn’t fall into epileptic fits of rage at the mention of EG as being a Hasbro shill or sicophant.

@Background Pony
So because not everyone on EqD criticizes hasbro at every opportunity they are sell-outs? They have no direct relation with hasbro at all. (unless you count the fact that the website is about one of hasbro’s shows, in which case every site you listed is a sell-out)

Even with an unbiased survey, people can still lie for one reason or another.

What’d be great is if immediately after watching the movie, as you walk out of the theater you do a quick survey of your opinion. (would never happen but bare with me) This way you only get opinions from those who actually watched it and you don’t give haters time to analyse the shit out of it and come up with every reason to hate it.

@Background Human
I disagree with #6.

@Background Pony
Won’t work. EqG haters see EqD as a Hasbro sell-out. If there were some way to set up a poll that would be resistant to tampering and then advertise it over all the online brony fandom (EqD, DHN, /mlp/, Ponychan, here, etc. etc. etc.) then we might have some reasonable idea of how the fandom feels about the movie.

@Splinter17
Unless we could someone survey the vast majority of bronies (Equestria Daily being our best bet) there’s no for sure way of knowing for sure how most people feel. I can tell you what I’ve seen in person and on groups where I can talk to someone where I literally know who they are (so you likely won’t get absurdly exaggerated opinions), they seem to have mostly enjoyed it with some people at extreme positive and extreme negative…kind of like FIM in general.
