Honestly, his effect would actually be pretty good. Even with the drawback of being a trap monster he’d still probably end up limited or banned or errata’d. He’d also be pretty broken in an Elemental Hero deck just for the sheer versatility :P

My ultimate goal is to make 40-ish cards that would functionally work as a deck without any other cards. I’m keeping a lot of it stuff that I like, like my old deck from back in the day included the instant win card Final Countdown and the trap monster Embodiment of Apophis since I loved both those concepts, even though they’re actually not that good XD

This one’s mane (heh) use, is the deck’s instant win condition involves getting the Mane Six together. So since this card can take on the name of other cards, including ones in your graveyard, if one of your Mane Six cards was in the graveyard this one could take its place and fulfill the instant win condition. So he’s mostly just backup, but he’d have some niche uses in abusing your opponent’s archetype too, like if your opponent was playing a Gravekeeper deck and activated Necrovalley: you could use Star Tracker’s effect to become a Gravekeeper card and he’d go up to a pretty decent 2100 for free :D
