Someone else on /mlp/ who claimed to work at a theatre did mention it was locked and could not be played yet.
They come on heavily encrypted harddrives though, not disks, hell the software that runs it all even controls when you can play the movie, stops employees screening a movie early or other un-wanted behavior.
No more big reels of film, huh? Darn. I’m kind of surprised honestly, I’d think film studios would stick to a format that can’t be so easily swiped. Wonder what kind of encryption they have on these things.
Theaters have gone through a digital switchover, thus rendering actual film obsolete.
Shame, really.
